Latest o2 PAYG tariffs/freebies & tips!

Ok the T&Cs on o2's PAYG freebies have changed so here is what you can get on a min top-up of £10 a month, plus the extra freebies and a little data tip too:

Tariffs:

Favourite Place
500 mins to any UK landline or O2 mobile from a registered postcode
NB: My 500 mins still work as long as I am within 5 miles of my postcode, as most areas have more than 1 cellsite which is accessible from both your postcode and another area. Because o2 can't tell exactly where you are, you get the call free :)
You can change your postcode once every 30 days by texting CHANGEPLACE plus your new postcode to 22204 free.
To apply: Text your postcode to 22204 (free) or call 2425 (free)

Talkalotmore
50 UK off-peak mins
To apply: Text MORE to 21300 (free) or call 2425 (free)

Text Anytime
300 UK texts
To apply: Text TEXTANYTIME to 21300 (free) or call 2425 (free)

O2 Unlimited
Unlimited texts to O2 mobiles
To apply: Text LINK to 21300 (free) or call 2425 (free)

Your Country
50 minutes to call international landlines and mobiles from the UK
To apply: Text YOUR COUNTRY to 21300 free (free) or call 2425 (free)

**On all tariffs, you can check your free allowance balance by either calling 4444 free or by sending a SMS with the word "balance" to 20202 free**

Extra Freebies (can be used together and in addition to the above tariff)

10 percent back on all your top-ups every 3 months
To join text REWARD to 50202 (free). You will get a reminder email after 3 months to claim back 10% of all your top-ups in the three month period (ie, for £50 top-ups from January to March, you get £5 extra credit in April).
To check your balance any time text BALANCE to 50202 (free).
To claim your O2 Reward text CLAIM to 50202 (free). It will be credited to you in 48hrs as long as you claim in the following timeframes:

Jan, Feb, Mar
Claim your O2 reward anytime from April 4th

April, May, June
Claim your O2 reward anytime from July 4th

July, Aug, Sep
Claim your O2 reward anytime from October 4th

Oct, Nov, Dec
Claim your O2 reward anytime from January 4th

Treats

Just call 2211 from your o2 mobile for a list of treats (typical treats: 30 days free voicemail, 15 free texts a month, 15 minutes free calls). You need to have been with o2 PAYG for 6 months + to qualify.

o2 Upgrade

Upgrade and get 10% of the value of your top-ups as call time worth up to £200 or 5% as discount off a new handset up to £100. Based on top ups over the last 18 months or since connection or your last upgrade whichever is the most recent.

Extra tip: all tariffs come with 1MB browsing allowance. Further data usage is chargeable. If you have a link to a free wallpaper or ringtone WAP site (and there are lots out there!), wait until the end of the month until you have 60p or so credit (you need 60p credit to access o2 WAP, *sometimes* it doesn't notice and lets you connect on less/nothing, this can be phone-model-dependent. Once you are connected download as much as you want - it cannot charge you the extra data you are using in transfer (as you credit will go to zero) and it doesn't 'buffer' the charges and remove them next time you top up. This also works when you connect your mobile to your laptop for mobile wap browsing (yep, it's possible, if limited!). Basically you're getting as much data as you want/need for 60p (handy if you are on a train and checking all your emails/downloading free games etc!)

Hope this helps someone :D

No - you can be on 1 tariff only, but have 10% on all topups plus a treat. If you choose a text treat, it gets added to your free text allowance.

My father has an O2 PAYG but he only tops it up with £10 once every 3 months because of the broadband offer. Can he benefit from this offer in any way? Thanks:thumbsup:

Ive been on the favourite place tariff for quite some time and have to say its really good! Im not to far travelled and get 99% of my calls for free and the £10 does for the times i need to text or im outside the postcode area. If you top up £15 or more then its 1000 free minutes.
#13
sorry not with o2 but will be with them next month, I only plan to top up £10 per month, will favourite place still work? and how do you know it's using the free minutes and not your credit?
also can you use a PAC to go to o2 pay as you go? (do they charge?)

just saw this:-

All calls originating from within your registered UK postcode will be preceded with a free call announcement confirming this.
#15
Thanks for that!

Hi, still on the old 300 txts plus 150 off peak mins for £15 top up, or 300 txts plus 300 off peak mins for £30 top up. Think this is no longer available on new PAYG sims.

Should be able to. I do the same as I have an o2 mobile tht I only top up with £10 every 3 months. I too get the broad band deal this way of 8mb for £7 something. I also get various little add on stuff because I texted them my details and I got the rewards. So, yes, tell your dad to give them a go.

The only thing I don't like about my O2 phone is the phone itself and that was on an Orange network to start with so it's not O2's fault. It's a horrible Samsung C300 which I only bought because it was £10 from Argos. £5 to unlock and then shove an O2 sim into it  Bingo! Cheap broadband :) and very reliable too.

Im on an o2 contract, any offers / freebies from them?
#21
you dont get free WAP!

I was with o2 for years and about a year ago took out a contract with 3. Still got 5 month of the 3 contract go and even although I can rarely get a signal at home 3 will not release me from the contract. I have now taken out a simplicity sim only monthly contract (only 30 days to notice to cancel contract) and I got 02 broadband. I pay £19 something by DD per month and get 600 anytime/anynetwork mins. 1200 text and choice of a bolt on. (which can be unlimted text, or unlimited mins to o2 mobile, or landlines, or wap, or wi-fi, or extra 200 anytime /any network mins) + every 3 months you get chose a 'treat'. It's just brill having a network with a signal I can depend on.
The 8mb broadband was a good deal as well. Went thru quidco and got £70 + 1 month free.
