No. There is no way to get music onto an ipad other than with itunes. It may let you streem your stored MP3s, but I doubt it as that will directly compete with Apple's itunes match service so they may find a way to remove apps that do that.
That would be amazing! Apple are the sort of company that would let you do it too, because they love their customers.

I can play tracks stored on dropbox via iPad app but as you say no way to add those to the music app.
This is free, you get more storage then dropbox and google drive. I have 25gb, I find it to be just as good as dropbox for syncing files, and it has better office support for online editing.
I think the storage options are cheaper then both dropbox and google if you need extra space.
Oh, and yes it has an OSX app.
Seeing as I can access that from anywhere i have polkast installed i.e.work pc, ipod touch 4th gen, iPad 3rd gen and android phone then these deals aren't for me as I essentially have a cloud service with this

Amazon Cloud Player does that for free, excellent App for iPad or iPhone
