No good at all. Have given this a fair chance and I really don't like it. Have been running it for awhile now on my spare machine

As said previously, it's been available for ages, and is free.

I've tried it and I hate it. Can see it's appeal, on a tablet, but not desktop.

Windos 8 is too laggy and glitchy. I'd advise people who have precious documents saved on their hard drive not to download it, as all of the folders(music, pictures ect.) in my "my documents" folder were wiped out.

well that's if you did a fresh install, i made a separate partition and built it in, now i've got a choice of the two OS on my netvertable. http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/dual-boot-windows-8-and-windows-7-side-by-side-1070657

had this on my spare machine for ages and it's a good idea badly implemented not a very good product at all to much reliance on touch screens and complicated to exit programs properly

Come on, how is this a 'Hot UK Deal'? It's been out for ages?!
bobmanuk#12
a friend of mine has it installed on a dell duo and the touch screen is implemented very well and it works brilliantly. but true has been out for ages. if you have a desktop, stic with 7 if you have a windows tablet, get windows 8, much better.

Or take the standard advice of all pre-release software and don't install it on "production" systems...

Probably make a good tablet OS but on a PC with 2 screen... Pants
Hopefully they will make it more desktop friendly on final release.

Or do what everyone will probably prefer. Release Metro for windows 7 as an optional extra if you want it.

windows 8 beta in its current form for desktops just doesn't work well. Any one who uses 20 to 30 aps on a regular basis will struggle with the new start screen.

As for tablets its only marginal increase in user friendlyness to win7 ..

Many on the net are saying "oh ppl don't like it because its new" . New is fine when it works and this doesn't

I found it annoying the way I had to keep going back to the thumbnails to get to the bit I wanted. I deleted it in the end. It had some nice features and when touch screens become the norm it may be brill, but at present it takes too many steps to do anything.

Tried this last month, hated it!
phils#19
terrible, they took Windows 7 and f***ed it.
