Found this great little app last night. It's called Moodio and it brings thousands of free internet radio stations live to your mobile phone.

It's a bit similar to the Wunder Radio app for the iPhone but imo seems better. Firstly it's free, whereas Wunder Radio costs £6.99, and secondly the stations are added by the members themselves so if you can't find your local radio station - just add it yourself!

Virtually any station that streams online is available through Moodio. Anything from local to national, from the BBC to talkSPORT and Virgin, to Hardcore Belgian Trance and other worldwide stations! It's basically ideal for listening to DAB stations when out and about.

According to their site almost every modern phone with internet and multimedia capabilities should be able to receive radio through Moodio. What you basically need is a phone that supports 3GPP/3GPP2-streaming and understands the AACPlus-codec. This includes popular phones from manufacturers like BlackBerry, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, etc. Apple's (non-3GPP-compatible) iPhone is also supported.

If your phone has WAP but you're not sure whether it is compatible or not then why not simply give it a try!

I'm using a Nokia 5800 and it works by streaming the audio through the phone's internal Real Player.

Needs to be used with an unlimited data allowance or wifi of course.

not free for iphone :?

Just read the page it's on. And this warning statWARNING!
Listening to Moodio means you will be downloading a lot of (audio) data. If you don't have a "flat fee" or "unlimited download" subscription with your mobile operator, this can become very expensive! To me this is not free as stated. Well noticed as well madkitty. Voteing cold very cold

Since when did streaming not involve downloading a lot of data? As I advised in the OP and as stated on the Moodio site this app requires you to have a flat rate / unlimited data allowance otherwise use it with wifi.

Most apps of this nature require a flat rate / unlimited data allowance, which the majority of people who use mobile internet have these days, and it is always stated so on the site or within the app before use.

I intend to use this quite a lot in the future and I will be paying exactly £0 for the privilege.

I really don't understand you're menality. I bet you also think TV Catchup or free GPS maps are cold too since they require one aswell don't you?

not free for iphone :?

There's an iPhone specific app that costs 59p or use it through Safari for free. For everyone else it's free.

If you use Safari on the iPhone you can use it for free (i presume, not having tried it myself). The app on the other hand costs 59p in the app store:

I wasn't aware there was an iphone app for it. Have amended my advice to madkitty stating this. But why should you have to pay Apple for it?

This is to the people that have posted wat I said. I took the quote from the web page that stated the warning. I do no that streaming is a download and wat I was getting at was if you don't have the flat rate or unlimited download. It will be expensive. You dick head
