To answer my own question (sort of), I installed the Kindle app from the Play Store. Not sure if that downloaded the book locally or if I am reading it online - any way to tell?

I'm assuming it's because your PC/Laptop is NOT a 'Device-Type'?, lol.

Try downloading the Windows/PC version of the Kindle App/Program to your PC/Laptop, and try again perhaps?, in theory it should then see sense otherwise?, well, that's how it now performs on my Laptop since installing the same some 3/4 months back anyway? (it then 'links' allllllllll!!), so .....

Be prepared for a mountain of Kindle Books now flooding your Windows PC/Laptop, etc?, hehehehe. :-)
