NEW "THREE in Touch" App (BETA)

You got a poor signal at home on the THREE Network?

Spoken to THREE yesterday (I'm on the 3,2,1 pay as you go plan) and told them about the poor signal at home and asked them about "HOME SIGNAL", they informed me that this is only available to people "on contract".

They offered me an APP (Which is still in the BETA stage), called "THREE IN TOUCH", which allows you to call and send and receive texts over a wi-fi connection ) [using your phone number]. (They send you a text with the appropriate link).

They informed me that whilst this is in BETA stage, calls and texts are FREE, yes free. The APP goes live on the 27th July 2014. After this date, calls and texts will be charged at standard rates (i.e. 3p / min, 2p / text).

So just to let all the THREE pay as you go people know about this, thought I'd share.

They have to log your phone number onto the trial, takes about a day or so. Providing the link won't help unless you contact THREE.

Please share the link to the app.....

Edit: just Rang three and my Link is on the way :-)

Just called in for 2 phones, took about 10 mins per phone, and as long as you'r in a signal affected area there should be no problem getting it.

Hot.

EDIT: Received the app however it will not work on rooted phones, so if your phone is rooted (at leas for the beta) you'r out of luck.

Three will send anyone on android the link contract or P&G I've just called them. (But I have an iPhone)

IOS will launch later (no set date)

But thanks for the heads up about the 'Home Signal' you mentioned in your original post, ordered (Free) which is a bonus in itself!

I called Three but they won't let me try it. They said that signal is going to improve in my area in the next few weeks. I would appreciate if someone can help me.

Tell them the coverage in your workplace is zero to very low constantly due to you working in a steel frame office building.

iOS version in August. This capability (Wi-Fi phone) is, however, built right into the forthcoming iOS 8 and Mac 10.10 with the ability to transition from your Mac to your iPad to your iPhone or PC whilst still on-line.

This is pretty sweet. Tiny call/sms user at home where reception is virtually nil, but data price hard to beat payg, especially abroad 'feel at home'. Can I get a new sim, transfer in, then call them up, or do I need to be a longtime user? Live in July as in live for everyone?

Currently on Kontakt Mobile's Flex £0, but 8p/mb eats up credit.

Hot.

Could the OP or someone who's been successful give me a "signal affected" postcode as the signal is pretty good here.
Thanks

Heads up for anyone rooted. Just started the app and it's detected I'm root and won't let me any further. Will try rootcloak to see if I can hide my root.

Update - for anyone rooted, you can use an app called Rootcloak through xposed framework to hide your root and this loads correctly.

I tried rootcloak plus on Play but no joy. Can you give me a link to the app you are using. Do I have to configure it to use closed framework? Thanks.

Search xposed framework on Google and download the app off xda developers. In that app there is a big library off apps that use the xposed framework and rootcloak is one of them. Rootcloak won't work on its own without xposed.

Damn, need to upgrade me phone. Android 4.0+ only.

grab Viber ! calls and texts are always free !
#28
I'm surprised the website says the app can only be used in the UK. Other providers have similar apps (o2 TU go, BT SmartTalk) which they advertise saying it can be used abroad.

They need to register your number in the back office system to participate in the beta, the app alone isn't enough. If you're on contract and have bad signal I'd try and wangle a home signal box.

But only to those who have installed viber on their mobile.

This isn't 'FREE'...
"We won't charge you a penny extra. Calls and texts come from your monthly price plan or Pay As You Go credit."

But saying that, it's still a good service if you have trouble getting Three signal. Not a deal imo though.

Is there any point downloading the app from the link here, Three info page says "You’ll need to call us to discuss your coverage experience if you want to be able to try it out. If you’re eligible to get our beta version of Three inTouch, we’ll send you a text with a link to download it. You need to be registered for Three inTouch on our systems for the app to work, so the download we send you to get won’t work for other people."
#38
Oh I was going to move to these from talktalk/ Vodafone.
#39
Just called once, the woman said that they were waiting for feedback on current users before signing anyone else up. Not believing her, i rang back and another gentleman answered gave me the app with no problem.

I just tried it and it worked for me, You have to install Cydia Substrate FIRST (uninstall rootlcloak) and restart the phone too
