Very fast browser, stacks of new features, perhaps worth a look.

Curious. Try disabling all FF add ons initially. benchmarking both browsers. You may have lots of things cached within FF.

ROFL --> You got 5194 on your benchmark of your choice. Chrome on my computer just tore that record up: 6856.

I think I will stick to what I have. Also, COLD!

Forgot to mention: Chrome is better :P

Which is why it's posted in the 'freebies' section rather than 'deals'.

Opera used to be pay software. I use it anyway, have done since they made it free :)

Clearly you don't understand anything about benchmarking.

The scores I got was for both browsers running on MY computer. You don't have the same hardware/OS configuration as me. In order for your Chrome benchmark to mean anything you have to compare it to something else, for example, install opera and run the same test on the same hardware/OS.

Your comment is completley meaningless. You've not even gone so far as to compare apples with oranges, you've just told us all you've got an orange!

It's not a 'deal', it's a 'freebie'. Please check what section you're commenting in.

I got this on OSX Snow Lep. Drained my battery a bit though! Would switching to performance mode change things? Will check Safari now.. I just know its going to be mega LAME.

Thanks

Please understand, any benchmark you give is useless unless you compare the results same test (the benchmark in question) on the same hardware/OS, but with a different browser.

See my other posts, the point of doing the benchmark is to compare the different browsers running on your Hardware/OS. Listing one result serves no purpose.

Used opera for a few years now much prefer it, currently still on 10.63, going to to a comparison before update and then after updating to 11, and to chrome.

So I PM'd this user to make them aware of how benchmarks work. Here is the reply

Don't you know much about advertising? I hate Opera, hate the adverts and really dislike their customer service. The purpose of putting your ''deal'' down was to discredit Opera. I am fully aware it was not a fair test, but after the benchmark test they had already run the comparisons and Chrome won hands down.

Another senseless reply. They hadn't compared the benchmark to anything, just a prejudice opinion not based on fact or testing the product in question.

Getting access to the statistics for this site would make an interesting investigation in to human behaviour. People following the crowd, jumping on the bandwagon of descenting voices. It could be quite interesting.

Thanks to OP for highlighting this. Opera is my browser of choice. And I only realise how much I am used to and prefer it when trying to use mouse gestures on another browser when using a computer that doesn't have Opera!

Anyone know if there is an 'ad block' type add-on for when watching stuff on 4OD? This is the only reason I use FF...

First XBMC then Opera...MSE next, or Avira?
How about a thread on free cash back at TCB?

I'm posting free things in the 'freebies' section. What problem do you have with this? As you can clearly see from the comments in the XBMC and Opera threads people are thankful for them.

My browser of choice for the last 10 years, what I love is it's usability. Don't worry about speed scores, just give it a try & see if you prefer it

To give folks an idea about 4 browsers I have taken the time to analyse Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer, using Windows 7 Ultimate with an AMD Athlon II x4 630 and an ATI Radeon HD 5670.

I've tried Opera a few times, and on my current laptop its really slow. Chrome is fastest for me, followed by Firefox, but I use Firefox for all the add-ons available.

I'll be getting a new laptop for Christmas, so will try a few browsers on that to see which performs best. Have to say though, I don't find Opera customisable enough for my liking.

i am liking the new opera 11, its great that its finally got extensions and its amazing that its got a built in email, irc and torrent client, in such a small download. those norwegians are really ingenious, and its also amazing that a lot of the features we take for granted in firefox and chrome now, actually originated in opera!
