Listed as a terrorist organisation by the FBI

Can you supply some evidence of this please? You may be thinking of ALF? I know the FBI did some surveillance of Peta but they also followed many other groups including Greenpeace.

I voted this cold too, because PETA are just... horrendous. The way they choose to attract attention to themselves is scandalous, and they kill almost all the animals that end up in their care. Theyre a bunch of nutters that people think are gentle, bunny rabbit hugging veggies. Of course I am all for animal rights and hate to hear of cruelty, but PETA are doing animal rights NO good.

They turned up at my sons school aboutthree years ago, dressed in animal costumes and told TV companies they would be there publicising their cause. They pretended to be calling on behalf of the school, saying PETA had permission. So TV cameras were there with these bloody nutters giving out "fact" cards which I still have somewhere, done like Happy Families cards, but with ridiculous and disgusting misinfortmation on them. My son who was 14 at the time had had quite severe acne was approached by one and told that his acne was due to dairy products... what a ****, some of the people went INTO the school, which of course is illegal after the Dunblane massacre - everyone has to report to reception... Kids and adults alike were on tv like it or not. They did leave when they were told that PETA were there without permission, PETA however did not and kept handing out these cards and filling kids heads with ****. They were telling all the kids to stop eating dairy produce and to drink soy milk and eat soy instead, saying it was much healthier. Now, as we know, soya has a lot of estrogen in it... WHO the hell would tell teenage boys to take lots of soy! I was so angry when my son came home from school that I called PETA and asked the woman why they are telling pubescent boys to take soya.... she stuttered and agreed that was stupid... And had ... nothing to say about my son being approached by an adult and told his acne was due to dairy produce.

Sorry about that rant, I just cannot put into words how much I cannot stand PETA. The original idea behind them was a very noble one, but in reality its VERY different.

HERE is why I mostly hate them, hypocrisy - http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

I understand the OP probably didn't know about PETAs publicity seeking tactics including insulting children, feeding them gross misinformation, and killing almost all animals given to them or "rescued", and not because they need put to sleep either. grrr

I was referring to evidence of them being listed as a terrorist organisation! I appreciate they're not very popular but the earlier poster said they are listed as terrorists. I'm wondering where this comes from?

Thanks!

I don't claim to have all the facts regarding PETA but I have looked through their site and although it seems a bit extreme, I feel that sometimes extreme can get the job done more effectively. I do know quite a bit about the Centre for Consumer Freedom however, which is the "Charity" group based in the U.S organising the Peta Kills animals campaign, and who currently have zero credibility in the Scientific community. I first came across them when researching Quorn, which to date I think is still the most extensively and expensively studied foods (in terms of scientific studies on its viability and safety as a foodstuff). The CCF launched a massive slur campaign against it when it was sold in the states, demanding it be labelled as mould and citing fictitious studies on increased allergies to it, whilst ignoring all the UK studies. It later materialised that they were funded by the soya industry, one of Quorns main competitors. There are several examples of this organisation targeting a specific group for what appears to be monetary gain, so although I won't claim to know whether PETA do indeed kill animals, and whether the amount they kill are any higher than a typical shelter (yes, I know the CCF say they do), I wouldn't go taking the word of that particular organisation and a parent who has had bad experiences with members of PETA (bear in mind that the people who attend these kind of rallies are not employed by PETA, they are members of the public who want to make a difference, so when one of them is obviously talking **** it shouldn’t necessarily reflect badly on the whole organisation.)
