Password Card [print off]

PredikuesiPredikuesi

This is a brilliant idea that may be of use to some

You have dozens of accounts on all kinds of websites and other systems, each of whom wants you to pick a secure password. But they all have different rules, and anyway, you can't even remember one secure password that consists of a random string of letters and numbers, let alone dozens of them!
A PasswordCard is a credit card-sized card you keep in your wallet, which lets you pick very secure passwords for all your websites, without having to remember them! You just keep them with you, and even if your wallet does get stolen, the thief will still not know your actual passwords.
Your PasswordCard has a unique grid of random letters and digits on it. The rows have different colors, and the columns different symbols. All you do is remember a combination of a symbol and a color, and then read the letters and digits from there. It couldn't be simpler!

You can optionally include an area that has only digits which you can use for PIN's, and you can also choose to include symbols if you use sites which require your passwords to include them. Remember that you can still use the digits-only area for regular passwords, for any site which allows numbers in its passwords!

You can choose whatever way to remember the password, so for instance Amazon could be Sun & Blue, which means an 8 digit password would be as follows. Or you could choose a symbol and read down through the colours.

I think remembering the password would be a lot easier for myself, interesting idea though.

Very clever idea but how would you remember all the symbols and colours if you had more than 9 or 10?
    Still voting hot.

The FAQ on their site says

you can access the site at https://www.passwordcard.org/ to connect to the site over an encrypted SSL connection, so that no one can intercept the card

Everytime you visit the site it sets up a different (unique to you) code to generate the card, so even if you used the suggested example of Sun Blue, and someone else had their own generated card from this site, and found out your choice of two grid coordinates, they would not be able to generate your passphrase.

Unless you leave the seed code lying around, as it can be used to regenerate your own unique card (if you lose the original).

seems a good idea, but not sure i get it....

if you cant remember a password for a site, how do you remember the symbol and color relating to each site? think i would find that harder

    thanks for posting tho!

True, some people can't seem to memorise passwords, but I do think it is easier to remember just two things rather than a string of numbers. All my passwords are in a multi-digit / symbol format and I'd have never remember even one. I think this card goes some way to helping with this.
If I had several passwords and wanted to use the card, I would write on the back something like:
"A" for Amazon followed by a symbol and colour. Anyone finding your card would need to know what "A" referred to and your username, which is highly unlikely.

I'm amazed at this and proves beyond any doubt that the card is not random, especially since they managed to give you one with the same red lines I drew on mine :)
Seriously though, I'd be interested to actually see any duplications.

I use steganos locknote for all my important information.

    Passwords/logins account details etc.

Its very simple, you run the program, enter a masterpassword the put all your information inside.

Very secure and only 1 password to remember.

    Totally free.

I don't reli understand the whole point of it anyway..., keeping this card in the pocket say without marking any row or column, how can you remember where is your password is??? if you mark down its like writing down your password......, is it not???

The point is you only have to remember a symbol and a colour. It's presumably based on the fact that way way more people find it easier to remember things, anything, if they put imagery to it, so like the OP's example of the Amazon, sun and blue. But presumably as well, you have to remember the length of the password, i guess it's easier if you stick to one length.

Works with what i have currently.. as I already have so many accounts on soo many sites..

Just remember one master password and the rest are easy..
(although remembering security is strongest as the weakest link) choose a poor master password and ..

Isn't this why every site has a "forgotten password" link ;-)
