Tickets are free - but last year almost half a million people applied for tickets and we expect demand to be massive again this year.

There is a limit to how many people the site is licensed to hold, which includes all those working and performers. We have over 30,000 tickets available across the weekend , but you'll need to be lucky to get a pair.

Radio 1's Big Weekend is held in a different place each year - we were in Preston last year, and Dundee and Sunderland before that. We always give preference to local residents, so tickets in the general ballot will be allocated randomly, but weighted in favour of those living in Maidstone, Kent and the surrounding areas- a smaller amount will be distributed nationally.

As part of the registration process you will be asked which day you would like to go on if you are awarded tickets - you can only apply for one of the two days. The full line up is being revealed on Radio 1 and the Radio 1's Big Weekend site throughout Monday April 21.

Only UK and Channel Island residents can apply for tickets - overseas entries will not be considered. You may register for tickets if you are under 16, but if successful you must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 years and older).

Only one application will be accepted per person. Successful applicants will be allocated a pair of tickets.

Tickets are not transferable. They are also free and cannot be resold. If you buy tickets from anyone they will not be valid.

At the end of the registration process we will send a confirmation email containing a personal registration number. Please keep this number safe - it will help you later if you want to check to see if your application has been successful.

We will email you between April 30 and May 2 to tell you if you have been successful. The BBC does not accept any responsibility for late or lost applications due to internet connection problems. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.

Entrants must supply full details as required and comply with all terms and conditions to be eligible for the ticket(s). No responsibility is accepted for ineligible applications, or applications made fraudulently.

Entrants can only apply using with their main residential address.

Why does this thread keep dissapearing from the website?

anyone from Kent fancy applying even though they don't want to go?? As you will get the majority of tickets, so more chance of getting them if you live there...

What would be the point?

if they didn't want to go, but then won tickets, out of the kindness of their heart
but yeah, was a long shot :whistling:

true but tickets are non-transferable. Dunno how they would know it you did get them from someone else but its not really worth the risk.

I didnt think they were allowed to sell them on eBay. It says if you buy them they wont be valid.

There were loads listed on ebay and it said item location wakefield yorkshire on 1 pair, i suppose on the day you need to prove your address so maybe they sell them with a old letter god knows but it's not on at all!!

I registered, have done for last few years but have never been lucky. Still, this time my odds are better as I used my Dads address in Kent to apply, he's in the same postcode so stand better chance than using my Norwich address! And if I get a pair I'll even have somewhere to stay afterwards
I know they get great line-ups but still seems a bit unfai, at least with the old Radio 1 roadshows they visited lots of towns & cities so a wider spread of licence fee payer could go. I remember seeing 'Cottoneye Joe' & 'Stiltskin' at one when I was at Uni in Bedford circa 1994!! (sorry, have rambled off the subject a bit!).

Neither of those were real bands. One is a song by Rednex, the other was an advertising executive commissioned by Levi.

Well, whatever, they had people on stage miming & entertaining the crowds!! Can't remember who else was there, some boy band, plus Gabrielle I think & ca't remember anymore, as I was a student there's a good chance alcohol was involved! :whistling:
#37
