-Revised 20th May 2014- For those having issues getting the emulator to open or rom to run, run through the steps again.

Play Nintendo 64, Playstation One, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, Megadrive, Game Boy Advance and more on your Iphone/Ipad or Ipod touch.

You won't need to Jailbreak your device.

Supported devices - Ipad 2 or above or Iphone/Ipod touch 4 or above. Ios6/7 required.

To install - Follow these three steps, read them thoroughly and make sure you understand what you need to do before attempting to install Retroarch.

1) Open the deal link on your device,

2) Click on Retroarch, you will be prompted with a message on how to install, proceed. The app will instantly appear on your Home screen and begin to install, whilst downloading/installing you now have approx 10 - 15 seconds to open the settings of your device and change the date to anytime in the year 2012, again do this before the app fully installs. If you don't do it in time, you may see an error message and Retroarch icon may appear greyed out, subsequently the app won't run. If this is the case, hold your finger on the app to uninstall, change your date back to auto and run through this step again until the Retroarch icon is no longer greyed out (fully installed). If the app installed ok, it won't be greyed out, proceed to the next step.

3) Run Retroarch at least once, once opened don't forget to change your devices date back to automatic or you will have issues running other apps, such as SSL error messages. Unfortunately you may need to change the date back to to 2012 each time you run Retroarch in order to open it successfully, but once open the date can be set to auto.

"Where do I find Roms?" Google is your best friend.

"Ok, I've found a rom website, how to I go about downloading a rom to importing it into the Emulator?"

First of all locate a webpage with a direct rom link. Again, just like when you installed Retroatch, importing roms requires the date to be changed back to 2012. As far as I know this is to allow the folder Retroarch reads from to be written to - otherwise it is locked. Once you initiate a rom download you will be asked which App you want to open the file in, select Open in - "RetroArch". Give it a few seconds (give or take, depends on your connection) to download. Retroarch will automatically pop up with the newly downloaded rom in view, click on the rom to run.

Remember, only download a rom if you own the original.

Blurb from the Dev - "RetroArch is a powerful engine that allows you to Play games (retro and more current ones). RetroArch is an open-source project that makes use of a powerful development interface called Libretro. Libretro is an interface that allows you to make cross-platform applications that can use rich features such as OpenGL, cross-platform camera support, location support, and more in the future.
Libretro and RetroArch are perfectly suited for creating games and (in the near future) apps leveraging the features of mobile phones and tablets.

RetroArch and the Libretro API has above all proven itself to be a very capable API for emulators, and this package includes an overwhelming amount of open-source emulators to use. Most of these have been vetted by the original authors and have their consent. In the instances where they are not, all effort has been taken to ensure there are no license problems."

Unsupported Devices: iPhone 1, 2, 3 iPod Touch 1, 2, 3 iPad 1, Only supports iOS 6 and 7 (+). I Can No Longer Use Anything On my iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch? Just make sure you date is back to 2014! CRASHES? 1.Change the date to 2012. 2.Open the app ONCE. 3.IMPORTANT: Set the date back to 2014. Does this app instore via Itunes/appstore? No, it installs OTA directly to the homescreen bypassing the appstore.

When you download a rom, you will be asked by Safari "Open In..." tap it, select "Open in AllEmuRa", the rom will appear, if it doesn't click on "Load Content", once the Rom has downloaded it will appear in the file directory. If tapping on the rom doesn't open the game, or crashes the app, tap "cancel" (top right), tap "Choose Core", select the system you're trying to emulate, ie Snes, and then try reloading the rom in "load content".

Not possible at the moment.

"Why Do They Overwrite? I Want All the Emulators At Once!

Currently this is impossible to fix, as the code signing company MacBuildServer was caught by Apple. Unless Emu4iOS buys a $300 enterprise account."

A couple of tips - if the wrong control overlay is loaded, ie - Snes overlay for the N64, click on the little alien retroarch icon at the top of the screen, scroll down to settings, input options, overlay preset, and select the correct .cfg layout.

If you are playing using the N64 emulator, some games require the Dpad instead of the Analogue stick. To switch back and forth quickly, click the + Icon, top right of the screen.

Click open in... Select open in allemuRA.
If the rom doesn't open the emulator, or the emulator opens then crashes, change the date back to 2012, try downloading again, and retry downloading the rom, this time the emulator should open. Load the rom. Choose the correct core (console) if the rom crashes the emu whilst set to auto.

Don't forget to change your ios date back to auto. You may need to follow this procedure each time you want to add more roms to the emulator.

I would be careful with this app. Once downloaded I managed to use 180mb with using my phone! Got an alert from o2 about usage!
Deleted app. No more data leakage.
Just letting people know.

Hi, I've had RetroArch downloaded on my iphone 5 for a few months now and have loved it. Recently I've ran into a problem. I can't open the app even though I set the date and time back to July 15th, 2012. Does anyone know what to do? I've considered deleting the app and redownloading it, but then I would have to delete my progress in my games :( I've even updated my iOS too. Please help! Thanks.
#27
Updated thread, if having issues before rerun through the steps and all should be well.
