Why would anyone need your mobile number to send an electronic text. Sounds like a good way to me to get as many mobile numbers as they can.
#6
nice - thanks
#7
Nice one!

On the first screen type the details and message and give mobile numbers as normal. On the second screen instead of inputting your friends details use your own twice. Otherwise they will receive the email asking them to send a valentines message except it tells them YOU sent it. Which will make them wonder who you have been sending to also.....

It says it's free but under the t's and c's it states:

6. Fees
Your use of the Service may be or may become subject to charges.

Any fees charged by Nokia will be announced separately in connection with the Service.

Use of the Service may involve transmission of data through your service provider's network. Your network service provider may charge for such data transmission.

Nokia assumes no responsibility for the payment of any charges

I'd assume that just means the mobile network may charge, but the site doesn't. So the person you send it to MAY get charged for receiving the message.

They're just covering their own backs incase someone does get charged.

I'd love to give it a go but I'm too paranoid. If they didn't want my mobile number I would, but as they do.... I think some people will be fine without :)

Clearly they cannot charge anyone since the sender can just put in any mobile phone number rather than their own.

DO NOT ENTER YOUR DETAILS ON THIS SITE

Really, are people here so dumb that they can't differentiate between a nokia site and a fake one? I will give you a simple test. Just look at the footer of a website like nokia.co.uk (footer means links at the bottom of a webpage) and then have a look at the footer for this nokia cupid site. Every major website has links in the footer that point to its privacy policy, sitemap etc.

I'm sure nokiacupid.com cameinto existence some days backs and is infrining on the Nokia trademark. Once people at Nokia get to know, nokiacupid will come down.

This is for site nokiacupid.co.uk not .com

Both sites do have a link to a privacy policy as well in the footer!

nokiacupid.com doesn't look like it belongs to nokia for sure according to whois:

nope I've got a pay as you go and got a text message from one of those dating agencies and I got charged  they then sent another message after wards telling me to ring this 01494 number that O2 insists is lo-call to get a refund as it was a technical error that I got the first message, so got to take the risk and hope they don't charge £1.50 per minute I ring them
#27
Hm, when you click on 'privacy policy' or 'terms and conditions', nothing loads. I think your advice is right about this being fake.

I got to the 2nd screen, it said:

"Your message has been saved and will be sent on Valentine's Day. You can now send someone else an anonymous text. Or...
Tell your friends about this website

If you think your friends would like to send anonymous valentine's texts too, just enter their details below."

.... Its a tell your friends form and you needn't fill it in, nothing to worry about :)

as for the data collection, Nokia already spam me so i wasn't worried about 'em having my details again lol

I have sent a lovely quote to hubs, which was very true of the day we first met. All together now.............
#36
Didn't receive anything
#37
:x Hubs didn't get the quote I sent, which would of been a dead give away.....instead he received "you have a secret admiror, happy valentines". He was too scared to tell me!
