Lifeline

Anaphylaxis (anna-fill-AXE-is) is a severe and potentially fatal allergic reaction. The whole body is affected; it may start within seconds or minutes, or take a few hours to develop following contact with an allergen.

However there are some things that those affected by anaphylaxis can do to keep away from harm:
Know what triggers the allergy and avoid these at all times
Know how to recognise anaphylaxis
Have your treatment available at all times
Understand how and when to correctly take your medicines
Practise with a trainer device
Make friends, family and colleagues aware

Have voted hot as this is a great post for those who need it. Not ordered as I would hate to deprive someone who is worthy of this freebee. Thanks pinkmelonsmr2

Great find, I too have not ordered, but passed the link onto someone who has a nut allergy.
Thanks

Heat added, my husband had really bad reactions as a child, but the Doctors haven't given us one for our kids in case they are the same. Thanks, ordered one for peace of mind with the kids.

No it is a trainer epi-pen and an alert to tell you when your proper epi-pen has run out I think.

my grandson carries an epi-pen. heat added for this and raising awareness of the condition

An epi-pen contains adrenalin so that if you are having an allergic reaction you can inject yourself to keep yourself alive until you can make it to a hospital/ambulance arrives. If you need one the doctor will give it to you

This is one that you can practice with, so if you need to use it in an emergency you know exactly what to do and dont panic. Good for friends/family to practice with in case they need to do it for you. It wont have any medication in.

Am I the only one staggered at idea of people ordering medical equipment without knowing what it is? :o

You dont actually get an epipen. Its just a trainer one, which has no adrenaline, and no needle.
#14
It would be really good as you can train other family members just in case parents are not around..

i carry an epipen and have always had to get someone to inject me as i am scared of the noise at it jabs you and i jump and make a mess of it. i need to use it properly as i could be on my own and need help.

just a word of warning, if the pen gets you in the wrong place it could be very serious

Thanks for this post. Will try to order as my son carries one for his Latex allergy and it would be great to practice on the trainer epipen.
#17
Thanks alot,my wife needs it,she allergic to bee stings, and have just realised that her one is expired...So we need to get a proper one too...

I had horrid visions of hoodies going round stabbing each other with epipens for one horrible moment, then!!!

Until reality caught up with my imagination & I realised it was a practice pen!!

Great idea for parents to show their kids with.
My 27 yr old friend (who is a single mum) has a peanut allergy & her 5 yr old son used her epipen on her last year to save her.
