Anytime + Launched today, sign up to activate it on your system. You need to plug and ethernet cable into the back of the router unless you select to buy the wireless adapter for £60.

Select self set-up, nobody really needs the sky engineer to install this.

God sky is so confusing! They tell you your new monthly costs but don't give you a breakdown of what's what and don't tell you your old monthly cost. Plus with all the asterisks they have all over the place who knows where they're going to bump up the price somewhere down the line.

Anyway, thanks for the post... defo hot, just need read through all the sky BS first :)

So, do they send you an extra box for this service then, and if so, where does it plug into?

I think you just plug an ethernet cable from your Sky router to your Sky+ or Sky+HD box.

I remember reading somewhere (can't remember where) that the initial launch will be limited to sky broadband users but it will eventually be rolled out to other sky subscribers with other ISPs. I've moved from sky broadband to o2 and I'm not moving back just for this - no matter how good it is. Tied in to a year's contract anyway with o2.

That link just takes you to register your interest for anytime+, I cant see anywhere it says about activating it.

EDIT: looks like you have to sign in and you can only activate if its available in your area.

Just another ploy to try and make people sign up for more from Sky in order to get their new 'anytime+ free service'. Voted very cold from me!

Working now after powering down the box for a couple of minutes and rebooting.

It downloads the first part of the program then allows you to watch it as it downloads, a bit like BBC iPlayer, but not as immediate.

Programs are in the Anytime section of the guide.

Just a heads-up to those that are singing the praises of O2 over Sky Broadband. I was with Sky BB, and switched to O2 BB. I have now been with O2 for 2 years and have had a good cheap service comparable to what I had with Sky. In september this year, O2 changed their T's & C's to enforce a pretty harsh fair usage policy as they have remodelled their packages, and are now also charging more for their service.

Thankfully I'm on contract with O2 only until April next year which is when I'm going back to Sky BB which is the only current ADSL BB service that wont enforce FUP on their MAX service (i.e, warning letters, GB Capping, speed throttlings, termination or transference of services to higher tiers).

You can bet that when you renew or take out a new contract with O2, you will be forced to transfer onto this new policy as I found out recently when I was thinking of taking their Home Phone service, which is riddled with lots of extra charges. They still have a cracking good mobile network though.

Great for people who are with skyHD and BB but i'm with o2 for BB and the service/speed is excellent..

Will happily wait till it is rolled out to other isp's....

What sort of stuff is on there? .. I cant plug in BB until later as havent got a long enough ethernet cable..

You don't need Sky HD subscription just a HD box. You will also need the unlimited package as you will quickly use up your allowance on the other packages.

oh and it's not available to me yet...waste of 5 minutes

It said they would be contacting me shortly. Don't know if its because i've disabled anytime. But also says they'll be rolling it out not that its available to everyone yet.

Great deal! :)
#25
Although, it isn't really a deal but common knowledge if you are signed up with Sky. Still... HOT!

My partner has been on the phone to them was told we needed to register the box.. Couldnt understand what she was going on about as we couldnt find online what she told us to look for and the other half is more interested in not missing football..
#27
I've tried to connect my new Sky+ HD box to my router and nothing has happened. It must take some time to update.
#28
It will only work on the Amstrad HD and 1Tb boxes at the moment as its the only boxes with the software to support Anytime+ , U do need either Sky Broadband Unlimited or Everyday lite to use it, however if on everyday lite u will use up your allowance quick. Programs on there are subject to your package alsom so if u dont subscribe to Knowledge pack dont download any of the Documentries as u wont be able to view them, Movies and Sports on Anytime + require a Duel Movies or Sports Subscription too.
