Just announced this afternoon by Spotify - you no longer require a Premium subscription to use the Spotify app on your mobile or tablet.

Still ad supported of course. Great now that the 5 play limit is also gone too.

Note I'm not sure if the app has been updated yet (probably will need to go through Apple's approval process before the update is pushed through).

Very, very nice! I currently subscribe to spotify premium but would be tempted to drop down to try this on the ad supported version again.

Tablet version just like the desktop version where you can pick and choose tracks but mobile version only free in shuffle mode so you have to go through the artists catalogue/your playlist until you find the song you want.

Been paying £5/ month for 3 or so months (some student offer) and am in love with spotify, has completely replaced music on my phone. Unsure if I want to stay add-free or save a fiver a month now

Are the ads overly-intrusive?

Spotify really is the greatest music streaming application. I feel like donating just as a thankyou. They're almost giving it away now.

Oh my word.....I've had the app on my iPad for over a year, and never used it, logged out and back into it, and all my playlists are now on it.

Have I just started some kind of trial, that I will be billed for at the end of ?

Or is this really totally free ?

Thanks
:)
