ah how dumb is that, i had to logoff then back on and its there....steam is flakier than a cadburys flake

I was going to get the ATI (and Nvidia for my desktop PC) free halo games, then saw a comment by a user that Steam is a nightmare and screws up your computer so do not install it.

So at the moment I will give it a miss.

Thanks for the warning about it's flakiness.

Steam is as flaky as a cannon ball. I don't understand why so many people judge Steam either on something stupid (like having to log in and out to refresh your games list), or by someone else's stupid comment.

i use steam with no problems.

Same here... there really are no negative effects to my computer from it (been using it for 4 years). The only thing that could possibly be viewed as a bad thing is that on installation it defaults to starting with Windows, but you can easily disable this in the settings. Even if it does have a few flaws, I think it's far easier than having a disc for each game or some of the other online store systems.

As far as I know, Steam use to be a nightmare in it's very, very early days which is why I never paid it much attention until a few years ago, Steam is far from flakey, having to restart the steam client to get something to new is a bit like....refreshing a browser, it's mundane and should pretty much in my opinion be expected.

As always, make sure your Steam account is verrified as it increases security:
Steam > Settings > Validate email > Check your email and confirm.

Now I'm off to give this game a good bash :)

Number 1, Steam doesnt supply free halo games, in fact doesnt supply halo games at all.
Number 2, Hundeds of thousands of people use steam every day with no problems whatsoever, its just like msn with a built in torrent downloader and shop.
Number 3, i have had steam for the best part of 6 years now and it hasnt 'screwed my computer' up once.

Pleh rant over >.<

I seem to when people join the game, it goes rather bad then.

It's a bit of mindless fun, I won't be buying it though, seems expensive for what it is.
