Sunderland International Airshow will be celebrating its 21st show this year from 10am 6pm on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July. The two-day event, which attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators to Sunderlands stunning coastline at Roker and Seaburn, is now the biggest free airshow in Europe.

The award winning spectacle promises to be another fun filled family day, with high-speed jets, precision flying, displays that will take your breath away and a variety of entertainment on the ground, so why not come down and enjoy the free weekend.

The action packed flying programme features front line jets, vintage aircraft, a parachute display team and aerobatic teams. The spectacular Red Arrows will be back again this year at 12noon on both days to give us an amazing display of aerobatics and precision flying.

If thats not enough, there will be even more entertainment on the ground including The Band of HM Royal Marines (Scotland), Royal Marines Combat Display Team and the 4th Royal Artillery Light Gun Display team in the arena, childrens entertainment, a wide range of exhibitions and promotional displays, plus a number of trade stands.

go early enough - and it's very easy to park in the side streets maybe two or three streets from the promenade - cheaper than park and ride (and a lot quicker to get out - traffic is rarely absolutely mental cos people often leave in dribs and drabs after the last event rather than a massive rush)

this place is just above newcastle so its a drive for anybody from london expect a 5.5hr drive

It's actually just South of Newcastle (by about 8 miles). From London you can expect a drive of around 4 hours although I've driven down before in 3 and a half (keeping to speed limits of course!!!:whistling:)

Be prepared to make alternative arrangements for the day if you are travelling a long way. Last year the airshow didn't actually happen due to heavy mist over the sea all weekend, even though the weather was fine, clear and sunny a few miles inland.

A great day out though, when the weather is good. :)
