Swype for android limited beta available

Swype keyboard now available from the beta program for android phones. This is the keyboard that comes pre installed on some android phones already but certainly not on htc desire.

Grab it while you can. Just register for the beta and get it downloaded in 5 minutes. If you have never used it or seen it, it will blow your mind.

I can't work out how to download this to my desire. Any help would be appreciated.
#5
Cheers. Look forward to using this when I get my desire after xmas

Swype is far better than Swiftkey.

Once you are accepted into the Beta you get an email with a download link that you need to go to from your phone. You then get the swype installer from which you can download and activate the latest version of swype.

Eric, go to link, register your details, open email and download. Instructions happen after download. Sorry for link and lack of pic, really hard editing on a post with next to no net signal and no WiFi in sight

Done my Desire this morning after it said previous Beta version had expired, all working again now. :-)

Thanks, been waiting ages for this to open up, will see whether I prefer it to the SlideIt keyboard
#11
Great keyboard, saves alot of time.
#12
It does not work on my Desire HD! The auto-space does not work and occasionally spells the wrong word which can take twice as long as just typing full querty. It also breaks after using it once. eg: if you write a message (pressing space manually each time), close messages and then try and do an email later, the phone needs restarting before it will let you write an email, recognising swipes.

Yeah, i should probably report this to them but I really can't be bothered as it will just get ignored.

I've had this on my SGS since launch and it's actually really good. I prefer smart keyboard pro but I loved this until I found that :)

Edit: one annoying thing is it's too much effort to get rid of words you put in the dictionary but accident or on purposed....

I simply love this app. Been using it for months, and it's still one of the best apps I have by far!!!
#18
This is the best keyboard out there. I love it to bits.

Just tried it out today for my desire HD, works perfectly. Haven't experienced any of these faults.

Yup, works fine on my Desire HD as well

How does this thing work when you've got to put in a long pretty random URL; do you just tap it in like the old keyboard?
#22
Yeah you can tap it out like a normal keyboard. It then remembers it as well do you can swype it next time
#23
did you guys download the full 10mb version? or the smaller beta version? I still havent rooted my andriod so most apps still have to be installed on the internal memory grrr maybe a job for next week :)
#24
Not supported for low res screen HTC Wildfire
#25
i've downloaded the 10mb version. seems to work well on my hd2

i also have the full version of swiftkey which is very good. not entirely sure which i prefer just yet - swype is very fast but swiftkey effectively "knows" my sentences as i'm typing them, often i can just do complete sentences with one tap for each and every word i need!!

Brilliant ! (Desire 2.2)

I think the only difference with the 10meg version is the extra language support. Happy with just English and Spanish at 2.5mb

Nope, I frequently have the problem with it spelling the wrong word and the auto space not working on my Desire HD, I gave up with it and went back to the full qwerty.

Just dl the 2.5mb version on my Desire HD and I'm very impressed.
Many thanks op :)

This is great, but I also love the new Gingerbread keyboard ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875202 ). Worth trying both since they're free :D
