New to Monkey Island? Back when LucasArts was called Lucasfilm Games, a creative young team introduced us to a pirate wannabe named Guybrush Threepwood in The Secret of Monkey Island. This led to a series of swashbuckling adventures where Guybrush became a Mighty Pirate (although not without continuing mis-steps), and the games quickly gained popularity worldwide. Monkey Island has returned in epic fashion this year with the episodic Tales of Monkey Island saga -- the first of which you can get free here.

You need to sign up to the site but worth it for Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal free.

About Chapter One

The saga begins with a heated battle involving the brave but often bumbling Mighty Pirate Guybrush, his beloved wife Elaine, and their nemesis, the demon pirate LeChuck. When the showdown goes up in flames, Guybrush finds himself marooned on a strange island with winds that always blow inward. How will our hero manage to escape this meteorological anomaly? What has become of LeChuck and Elaine? And what's the story with the infectious voodoo pox that's spreading across the Caribbean, causing Guybrush and other pirates to act like unruly hooligans? These are just some of the many questions posed in this first chapter of one of the most rollicking and rip-roaring entertainment experiences this summer.

EDIT:
Apparently if you already have this you can get a coupon from telltale for an episode of any other game of theirs - a little bit more here (not sure how it works):

If you haven't yet played Monkey Island then get out to a shop now & buy all 3 games - go! now! no time to stop & put on your shoes - go!

Seriously, this is a stonking set of games & although the first two now seem dated because of their graphics the whole series is still worth playing if only for the humour (remember the pulley in the rubber chicken?). The end of the first game sums it up with an on-screen message along the lines of "Now switch off your PC and get some sleep".

I have already played Episode 1 of this latest game & although it's not as good as I remember (nostalgia is never as good as you remember it was!) it's still good enough to be in the 'Monkey Island' stable.

By all accounts, you only have another 5 minutes to download this.
How much time you really have, I don't know.

It says 8 hours left, as it's PST and not GMT time:thumbsup:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/482729/steam-weekend-deal-the-secret-of-mo/

The original remade recently for PC (also available for Iphone/ipod touch) on sale for Pirate day is £3.49 on steam and reduce on Direct2Drive as well.

Well worth a purchase at that price!
