Basics is free accounting software designed to help your business keep track of its cash flow. It shows you at-a-glance how your business stands - who owes you money and who you owe money to.

The free software download is quick, simple and easy to set up. It's not a time-limited trial version, there's no obligation and it's yours to use for as long as you need.

Why is it free? We were a small business once and we haven't forgotten what it was like. So, we're giving a little something back to help your business grow, and when you need more from your software, we hope you'll consider our other products and services. It's simple.

Ideal - I've been looking for something just like this since MMicrosoft discontinued their small business accounting software. Thanks. Voted hot

Super find I need something like this right now! Cheers

Looks good, but shame there is no invoicing. I personally think Quickbooks Simplestart free edition is a better "deal" than this, can invoice/record payments-deposits etc.

Great spot - many thanks OP - voted hot!

To get the download link you need to complete the online form (only takes 2 minutes), then you get the download link. However, you also need the company name and Activation Code to make the software work, so I recommend filling in the form - lot easier in the end

:-D Excellent find, I've been using Microsoft Office Accounting 2008 but having difficulty transferring from my laptop onto Desktop.

This could be the solution as far more basic & breaking the stranglehold of Microsoft.

Does anyone know if it is easy to use? My last experiences of this sort of thing was around 10 years ago to be honest but so difficult to learn it was shocking :)

Nice one Steve. Do you know the products? The sage one says it works with MS Office 2000 or later - does that mean this freebie isn't standalone? In a bid to become legal with my software I only have Microsoft Works now.

I have not used the free version of Sage Invoicing, however I am 99.9% sure that the compatibility with MS Office is for exporting data to Office apps just the same as the paid for products - Sage 50, Accounts, Act etc. The program should work fine as a standalone too.
