Think Bike Think Biker!

I have much respect for most bikers, and give way when safe to do so but for some riders it should be 'Think Car Think Driver' as they clearly think that they can ride my ass or over take me when unsafe to do so, especially those young fools on mopeds

after my last week on the bike, i want a sticker that says "Think Muddy Verge, Think New Fairing" :-(
#5
agree with you simplyjimbo re fools on mopeds especially. i would be interested to know how many moped riders actually get to the point of passing their test compared to those who ride lower rate CC motorcycles.

hope you get your new fairing sorted soon IDB -- ouch!

Totally agree And try to remember when you last overtook a bike. I drive over 30000 miles a year and it does not happen often.

I do pay attention to cycle/bike riders...its just a shame they cant do the same. If you want to be treat like a car act like a blinking car instead of darting between traffic or ignoring red lights/roundabout rules and stop riding side by side....rant over

Thanks

It's the undertaking which **** me off. Why do bikers think the line between lanes is their part of the road.

i hate motorbike riders, them and cyclists are the bain of the roads! reason there are so many accidents is because 90% of the time the biker is being a tit

i dont use a car nor a bike but heat added to prevent accidents!

As a Car Driver (See Avatar) and a motorcycle rider (Yamaha R1) I would say all young scooter riders and most car drivers are complete tits.

IMHO most car drivers don't use their mirrors and if they are capable of 80mph in the outside lane of motorways they won't move to the middle lane for noone.

Sticker ordered , thanks OP

If car drivers are doing 80mph in the outside lane of motorways 'and they wont move over for noone' this implies you are doing more than 80mph in the outside lane (as you want them to move) and thus are also breaking the law and therefore you sir are still a tit!

Doesn't the highway code say that any lane apart from the inside lane is for overtaking ONLY?

You are obviously one of those Holier than thou tards that sits in the middle or outside lane and moves over for noone.

At the end of the day I am responsible.for & accountable for my speed NOT YOU. So get out of my way and let a policeman catch me.

No offense but until you've actually ridden a bike you can't really comment, before I rode a bike I was ignorant of bikers too, you have to see it from both sides, I drive too. You can be lit up like a Christmas tree and car drivers will pull out on you still, hence why you ride defensively and then car drivers think your ignorant. cant win.

Actually neither, i spend most of my time in the inside lane unless overtaking trucks etc as my car simply wont get above about 75mph. Many people say they are responsible for their speed and have that attitude but when you go through someones windscreen on your bike and wreck other people lives then your comment is, may i respectively say, a little 'tard like' in its self!

Care to explain why cyclists are the "bain" of the roads? I would love to hear your reasoning. Just be sure to read the highway code before you lay out your carefully structured argument.

You all need to stop arguing and realise that it is the same problem wether its a car driver, motorcyclists or cyclist.

Most of each are safe, abide by the rules and have common sense. But there are some that do not and drive/bike/cycle like w*****s.

And as more of the population drive, there will be a higher number of those people driving... etc etc

Cheers :)

Love these posts. The Think Bike campaign always causes controversy on this forum. Personally, I don't think bikers or bicyclists think much at all about the rules of the road. This very day a cyclist sailed through a red pedestrian crossing light as if it wasn't there. And I am always being overtaken by speeding motorbikes - is there a different speed limit for motorbikes than cars?

But I like the campaign because it reminds us in our cars to watch out for these mavericks of the road. They are more vulnerable than us but they also flout the rules and take risks too.

THINK, riding on pavement, wrong way up one way streets, jumping traffic lights, scratching cars paintwork, riding in the dark with no lights, just being a general nuisance on the roads.
#31
Part of the fun in cycling is jumping through red lights and getting away with it! Let's be honest fellow cyclists, that's what gives me my kicks whilst cars are stuck in traffic!
#32
What about all the cars going down cheddar gorge all the time at 25mph. After climbing it on my bike I want to go down it at 35mph at least. Cars are just there to ruin our fun.

(I am joking)
#33
Ordered thanks op. Can't hurt to increase awareness of us bikers.

One day you'll miss-time it and become another statistic and the world won't miss you (unlike the car that sends you to oblivion)

Ordered, lots of bikers in my family :). I do worry about them being so vulnerable. Especially when there are so many selfish aggressive drivers on the roads.
The idiot that posted that it's no one else's business what speed he does is very misguided. If you endanger the lives of others it's everyones business!

Hope he loses his licence although probably so arrogant he would think that to be unfair, as he should be free to do whatever he likes!

Haven't had a road bike yet, just offroad :p

If you're a dick on a bike and end up coming off/crashing most of the damage will be to yourself, if you're a dick in a car and end up crashing most of of the damage will be to whatever you hit. So yes think bike. Btw before you start stereotyping, use your mirrors and dont pull out. Rant over

Some motorists are so enshrined in their own little bubble that they don't think of anything else. Some years ago I was a pillion passenger on my son's bike going up a dark road. Under a tree, with his lights off, was a motorist who had realised he had been heading the wrong way so decided to turn round right in front of us. Being an experienced biker my son 'rolled' the bike so we both fell off quite gracefully. My son's language would have made a navvy blush when the motorist simply said, "Sorry, I just didn't think!!" I won't even throw a cigarette out of the car window without checking behind in case the wind takes it up under someone's helmet.
