OpenTTD is an open source simulation game based upon the popular Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.

Hasn't this been around for years and don't you need the original game files to run this open source version? Maybe things have moved on.

you don't need the original CD anymore, this is still an option, but open source graphics, sounds and music are now available.

The only option used to be to have the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe, and use the data files from it. There are now open source alternatives to the data files which can be used (and downloaded from the Open TTD website). But yes, it has been around for quite some time. Still, not one that is overly familiar to many people.

EDIT - Timenet slipped in just before me... That'll teach me to type so much :P
