Vodafone stopped paper billing in March... GET IT BACK!

xanukxanuk

In March 2010 Vodafone wrote to all of their customers who receive a paper bill to inform them that no further paper bills would be sent out. Instead customers must now sign into ebilling in order to view their account.
They claim this is to protect the environment, but we all know that its just a money saving tactic.

If you text "PAPER" to 97888 on your vodafone mobile, you will get a message back confirming that they will continue to send paper bills.

This is useful for those with disabilities, special requirements such as providing a paper bill to an employer for reimbursement, or simply prefer to have a tangible bill sent to you to ensure you are reminded when payment is due.

Personally, I think it disgusting that they should remove the facility when already in contract with them. I feel that I am already paying them £40 a month, the least they can do is send me 40p worth of bill each month, after all they are charging me £6 to pay my bill by non-direct debit means.

First post, go easy on me!

I did that ages ago, they sent me a message about it. Still no paper bills and once my contract ends no Vodafone either unless they sort themselves out, customer service has gone down the tubes recently.

    Its not a deal IMO

It may be done for money saving purposes but there is no denying that it does benefit the environment. If you need a paper bill, just print one out and I get an email and a text telling me how much my bill is for each month.

Not so great when the my account section of the site is down for maintenance half the time....It's not just for money saving purposes either, they also know people are less likely to check non paper bills.

If you dont have the internet.... or are far too ignorant of environmental issues or just plain lazy ..... what a great idea!!!!

For some people such as myself, my employer requires an original VAT bill in order to pay my mobile charges.
Vodafone get away with charging £6 per month for a paper bill, and then 3 months into the contract remove the paper yet still charge £6 to view online billing.
Many people will be in a similar situation.

Also, with online billing they will not send you so much as an email reminder that the payment day is coming up. The customer must remember to log in each month and pay the bill 3 days before it is due to allow processing times.

IMHO its nothing to do with environmental factors. Most paper in the UK gets recycled anyway.

also, if you miss your payment date, vodafone bar the handset so you cant even call customer services, and they also remove your access to online billing all toghether. So a phone box to an 0845 number is the only way to get up and running again, with a 3 day delay while they process payment.
I'm sure I cant be the only one who gets to the 17th of the month and realises the bill will be due in 3 days but there are insufficient working days left for them to process the payment...

You dont get to a checkout in a super market and get told to log in when you get home to find out how much it comes to, and to pay it, do you?!

but you don't have to worry about any of that with direct debit, just give us all your bank details, you can trust use not to get your bills wrong

Surely the payment day is the same each month ?

That seems like a hell of a lot! It's only normally about £1-£1.50 more. Why not just pay by DD though if it's costing £6 more??

I'd check your spam folder mate. I get my email through every month telling me my bill is available to be viewed.

seriously people, i have always had paperless billing from vodaphone for years, they email u in plenty of time to check bill, and i pay by direct debit so no worry about missing it, and you can print off the whole bill fine, i have three accounts this way and it makes more sense in this day and age,

As the other member so eloquently pointed out, this needs to be moved by a Mod out of the freebie section. Misc seems a better classification.
