This does work... but for some reason it now does not let me open Skyfire on my phone and reinstalled it but made no difference.

It only became available for my phone (Nokia 5800) a few hours ago. I have downloaded it and logged on to TVCatchup.com and everything is working great!

Sorry but I don't know enough about Skyfire to help.

I am aware it been about for some time so hopefully someone out there will know?

Yeah I got it working last month and then it happened again, and haven't used it after that. Prefer opera mini for normal browsering.

Yeah, opera mini is excellent and I'll continue to use that for general browsing.

I would add that I've been following Skyfire on Twitter (solely to find out when it became available for S60v5) and there was a power failure at their datacentre? Maybe your problem was connected to that and a fresh download now might sort it?

Gutted that this wont work on the blackberry, hopefully sometime in the near future.

Agh...was just about to post this you beat me to it! Been checking the Skyfire site the last few days for the release. Got both Skyfire and TV Catchup working on my Nokia 5800.

Looks good I can't wait to use TV Catchup out and about.

All I need to do now is get my phone unlocked. I've had it 5 weeks and still not made a single call or text on it yet!

BTW guys you should be using Opera Mobile (as opposed to Opera Mini) with the Nokia 5800. (it's supposed to be better!)
#8

Can I just ask, as i am a bit thick when it comes to this kinda technology....

Do you have to subscribe to a tv package to be able to watch tvcatchup.com or is it free to watch? I have umlimited internet access.

anyone know if an android version is coming?
#17
I installed it on my Nokia E71. Went to site dailymotion.com. I window popped up to tell how to zoom in and out. That window was not going by any means. I needed to restart my mobile.
#18
I've been using it on my HD2 for a couple of months, since it's been upgraded to version 1.5 it is great for TV Catchup and also BBC Iplayer

When I'm watching TV Catchup on my 5800 how do I remove the address bar at the top to get a full screen?

It has full support for flash player, which the iphone does not. It also display pages how a normal pc internet browers would.
Installing skyfire would mean that i can unistall a bunch of apps that clutters up my phone memory(facebook, last.fm, youtube, twitter, iplayer...etc).
You can watch videos/ live streams on pretty much any site, even naughty sites ;-)

lol, another deluded iphone user.

its flash 10 but the flash 10 use graphics acceleration? its still in beta stage for windows and linux last time I checked.

Also I doubt this can play the iplayer website at desktop resolutions, which is pointless because all s60 phones have a iplayer app.

The flash 9.4 works 100% on the n900 can process any website, but no GPU acceleration.

Be nice if they brought out a maemo version so can have more than 1 browser

No need to get personal rash - I appreciate the comments regarding flash, but my N95 had flash years ago. Why do they make out flash is new?

Also the iPhone and many many other phones and browsers already show desktop versions of websites? Resolution is a hardware thing, not a browser thing. My XDA nearly 8 years ago had full html rendering.

I'm not bashing any other phone - I just fail to see this as anything other than another choice of web browser. There is nothing new about it.

As for the stupid comment about it being a £6 sky mobile app... its premium content, and has no relevance to this thread whatsoever.

Please do try again to make me understand why this is so special? and btw, before the next round of abuse starts - I havent voted either way.

Brilliant post! Cheers...

My daughter has Nokia 5530 xpress music.

Will this browser work on that and she like millions of others is obsessed with chatting on Facebook and MSN, is this supported on here?

If not perhaps one of you more savvy mobile internet types could point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Steven

lol You are a seriously deluded iphone user. The iphone was one of the last phones to get this app, it was available on almost all smart phones way before the iphone.

If you use a web browser to watch Sky Player you can watch everything you subscribe to for free, without having to pay an extra £6 per month just to watch the sport channels or another £6 per month to watch the movies.

You was the one who brought up the Sky Player app, not me.

(embarrassingly silly personal attack removed)The iphone was one of the last phones to get this app, it was available on almost all smart phones way before the iphone.

I know - I had it on the n95 - whats your point?

So basically this web browser supports full silverlight with security? Have you actually testing sky player on the main sky website? I'm not saying either way - but it (obviously) uses a custom secuirty/licencing system, and if it supports it, thats good.

Only took 3 pages before someone gave me a genuine reason why this is better. It supports flash and silverlight.
#33
So you were basically jumping on the band wagon slagging off this application when you didn't even know it supported Flash or Siliverlight even when it says that in the very first post!

And you were the one being personal when you said that I asked a stupid question about having to pay for an app that will soon become free via this browser.

That was my original point!
#34
It works great, but lot of buffering when I play youtube videos.

If anyone is experiencing difficulties with the phone's backlight constantly going out when watching TV Catchup on Skyfire there is a free app you can download called S60SpotOn which will solve this issue by keeping the backlight on.

Once installed go the Options and select "displaylight" on.

Thanks for that, it has been annoying me a little.

loads webpages ok but videos are unwatchable. Too jerky and sound quickly does out of sync.

Wish this would hurry up and come out for the blackberry.

Your connection IMHO, cause i have no problems on a 10mbit/s. You'll probably need a 4mbit/s minimum
