I swear the US offer had a much earlier start date for customers, there's was months before the offer started, not weeks :(

I wonder if you could get away with using a printed off picture of someone else's receipt and my own barcode?........
#2
yeah > the US got this deal a few months ago [whats new] :x
Rite now i'm sort of regreting getting my HD DVD add-on [£90 > Old Games Trade-In @ CEX].
Could have waited a month.

oh well, could get the HD DVD's for £60/£65 [for the 5 i wanted] ;-)

Microsoft have went on record to say there will NOT be a black hddvd player for the 360!

Some black ones were made for the xbox team that help make it, there are no plans to sell it to the public.

We just got some goodies on our team: Xbox 360 HD DVD drives in black! These limited-edition drives were made especially for those of us who helped work on the product, and come along with a black remote control.

Can anyone please confirm if they ll accept online receipt?

This is a great deal that ive been waiting for. To those that are angry as they missed out - it sucks but you cant blame M$. What would you prefer them do - never offer any deals (they dont usually at the best of times). Its one of those things - you early adopt you pay through the nose, thats the cost of being first. The benefits are that you got to show off to your mates when you first got it, thats the trade off. I guess they could have said anyone since 1st September but then again they could have said no to previous buyers....

only if you bought it after 01/10/2007 and you have the box and the receipt to confirm that.
#22

Now theres an idea:whistling:
#24
As long as the store doen't mind it coming back without the barcode...
#25
If i bought a second hand drive from gamestation would i be a be able to claim these 5 hd-dvd's as well? it would still come with a till receipt i guess....
#26
Looks like the same deal that is happening with the 5-7 free HD DVDs when purchasing a new toshiba dvd player (EP30 or EP35).

Good deal on the X-Box, hadn't realised it was going to run something similar. That said i'll be buying the stand alone player (just not sure which one), just wanted to comment in case any one else wanted to take the alternative route.

I've been waiting for this offer to come to the uk but to be honest the selection of dvd's are pretty poor.

there is probably 3 i would want but they are all in the same catergory so i can only get 2 of them.

You only need to write down the barcode number, not peel it off!

it says "The original barcode located on the outside of the Xbox 360 HD DVD player package" > so you would have to peel it off [carefully]

or

"Original or copy of cash register receipt for the player purchased between 1/10/07 and 31/01/08 with the purchase date and price clearly circled" ;-)
#31
exactly!
an idea go into gamestation or a store wheere can u pick em up of the shelf get the barcode and hope no 1 registers before u do and hey presto!
IT might not work though!
#32

People who are thinking of purchasing, claiming and returning to the store after recieving the free HD DVDs:

1:) Dont Microsoft demand the original receipt when claiming the free HD DVDs, thus not enabling you to return unless the store accepts returns without receipts.

2:) If you do get away with it, i am personally disgusted with people attempting this. This is a website to obtain good deals, not con companies, big or small, out of money. Microsoft have decided to reward customers opting for the HD-DVD format, who do some people think they are trying to get them free. If you return the HD DVD rive, then return the HD DVDs which arent yours. Its boderline theft and a dishonest disgrace.

what about people who purchased the HD DVD add-on for full price just a few days earlier than the start date of the deal? they have been cheated out of their free movies > Microsoft could extend the deal further so people dont feel so betrayed

Call it payback for M$ shafting all us Xbox users by charging us twice the price they do in the States for Xbox Live!

What a stupid statement to make. People buy them because they are PREPARED to pay the price they bought it for. So what if its reduced later on? That person had the luxury of using that product while everyone else who wanted a discount waited for a promotion/ price reduction. Same with everything, price skimming technique.

People who are considering this are engaging in fraud, its out of order, full stop

I wouldn't try that, as if the person who "really" buys that machine registers it to claim the free HDs, it will come up that player has been regsitered on the computer. And their claim will be declined

As they genuinely bought that player, they will be mad, send photos on the serial number on their player etc to explain they have the player.

The promotions company will see who originally registered that player, they have your name & address(as they sent you free HDs) and you will be asked to provide evidence that you own that player & could get into alot of trouble
