Cashback offers in Hot Deals

POSTED BY: Admin 9 months, 3 weeks ago

I just noticed some fairly inaccurate speculation in the Hot Deals forum on the recent cashback for brochure thread. I think the issue of cashback has been raised in threads but not in a proper comments thread so here it is.

Our current policy is fairly loose but the general point we have removed cashback threads for is if there is no real deal attached and its just a listing of rates.

Feedback on where to draw the line and what is useful and what is annoying can be posted here.

if it is something for nothing then it should be in freebies, if posted in deals then a pm could be sent on removal asking them to repost in freebies, not sure why free cash cant remain in deals, you fill in something and get free cash, thats the deal

P,s cant post on the inaccurate part as no idea what you are referring to

But that's effectively the same as the numorous Empire Stores etc deals that have been posted with no minimum spend required with a money off voucher which then make the deal posted (t-shirts for one example) free but they have always been allowed to stay.

Although it's not cashback it's still something for nothing.

Personally I'm not distinguishing between "free" money and regular rates. I guess I don't think listing rates is a "hot" deal. Someone listed eBay cashback for example which we removed. So at what point is that line drawn?

Im with BG and if i move tariffs ( same BG rates) i can get £60 cashback, now is that deal, im already with them, no rates have changed as click 2 and click 3 are the same, is this a deal? or is it a freebies? so why not allow all free cashback in freebies why do they belong in misc

I kind of don't think that is a deal sassie and that's why the line was drawn before (otherwise the Hot Deals forum would just end up a listing of cashback?)

At least it would make a nice change from catalogue voucher stacking for at least 1 day.

So should there be (1) free cash cashback deals where no purchase is necessary and these could be listed if they are new (2) regular cashback which wouldn't be listed (3) cashback changes yes/no?? (4) cashback combined with a special offer that can be listed?

well the BG deal is listed as a savvy tip on the quidco website, and the microsoft 'free' cash website deal is also highlighted there, so if those kinds of things are on the quidco website what is the point of them being posted in the forum? maybe quidco should add a new tab, 'free cash' or something...to make it easy.

I meant on each one as you did sassie.

I agree ryoooh which is why we generally remove those kind of posts. I don't think it's useful to have cashback rates repeated on hukd.

good if you like them, but annoying if you dont want to view them- could result in the hotdeals section being crammed full of them, could it maybe be put in freebies?
