I for one would like to thank you for posting it.
For all of the cold posters, at least put a reason, its the guys first post, if your gonna put the deal down at least tell him why.

You should have pushed them or mentioned that you were thinking of moving to virgin as I did in August and I managed to get £5 per month knocked off the bill per month (On option 2) and also got BT Vision chucked in for free with free installation.

However also voted hot as I think you would be hard pushed to find a decent broadband for £13.99 per month.

BT recently reduced their broadband prices by £3 per month but failed to reduce existing customers bills unless they agreed a new 12 month contract. This wasn't an offer but a price cut.

That means someone whop didn't want a new 12 month contract who had been with BT broadband for 3 years or so (i.e me) was being charged more than a new customer.

They refused to charge me the advertised price unless I signed a new 12 month contract. I wouldn't get the same offers as a new customer either, i.e they refused to give me the reduced price for the first 3 months and they wouldn't give me a new modem either.

Scummy IMO. So I changed supplier.

A price cut is price cut and you shouldn't be blackmailed into getting it.

I think this is cold because package 1 is useless for anything but surfing and email. The usage limits are very poor and BT do enforce it.

I understand what you're saying Broadsword, but package 1 is ideal for me, which is why I turned down package 2 as it is of no more use to me than package 1. Thanks for the comments tho'

this is very expensive, VM give you 2mb unlimited for £4.50 a month to ALL new and existing customers with no phone line required

I'm just coming to the end of my 12 month BT Broadband Option 2 contract.
I called them up (going for the options to ask for a new MAC code), told them that I was coming to the end of my contract and was considering my options. The guy who answered said he had to talk to his manager - he came back 2 minutes later and offered me BT Broadband Option 2 for £9.99 a month for 18 months (or £14.99 for 12 months - which is just the same total cost for 6 months less!).

I thought this was an absolute bargain and took up the offer straightaway. I had all of my arguments ready (with details of best deals by other broadband providers) but didn't need to use any of them.
