Canon Battery Grip (BG-E3) for the 400D and 350D - £64.99 instore @ Comet

£64.99

FOUND BY: ngard81 2 years, 1 month ago

I have just spotted the battery grip for my 400D (as bought from tesco after seeing on here ;-) ) and see that it is 1/2 price in comet! this is normally £129.99 and at very best can be had for about £90-100 on the high street. I know that these can be bought on Ebay for about £70 + delivery from HK which carries the risk of import duties...

Reason: The battery grip has been flagged by Comet as end of life (has a D after the product code). I imagine that they have this linked as an accesory to the 350D camera and are blissfully unaware that it also fits the 400D :-)

My store here in sunny Swindon only had one in stock so it may be worth calling first.

Happy hunting!

Voted Hot!

Best price on Camera Price Buster is £69.99

I've had this grip on my 350D and it helped make the camera feel much better. And you get the advantage of adding 2 batteries in the grip.

Think I paid about £25 for my generic HK copy off ebay. When all you're buying is effectively a piece of plastic, I don't think there's really any point going for branded.

Fare point though does yours have the shutter release button or the WB button? These are all good features to have on it plus the grade of plastic is worth considering.... don't laugh :-) please... there is a big difference in the plastic dash of a merc to VW compared to a much cheaper car. I see this as being the same so comes down to the hold and feel of it all...

Though I see the point that the cash saved from buying the generic could get you a 4gb Extream III mem card!

you get what you pay for in the end.

Nick.

I think this thing is a smart marketing gimmick from canon. They made the body toooo small and then they sell this extension for extra £ 100. They should come as a free upgrade

Valuable tool to add to your 350D without doubt. Tranforms the weight of the camera and helps working in portrait mode so much better and easier.

you put the normal batteries that you'd fit into your camera inside it

You get two caddy type things that fit in it. one that takes two regular 400d battries (these can be got from Ebay for £3.50 each incl. del.) and a second caddy that takes 6 AA batteries for I suppose if you get caught short somewhere... I don't recon I will even bother carrying the second one with me though still good to have.

I've got a 350D and without the grip it does feel very small. My 30D in comparison feels comfortable without a grip and I haven't found it necessary to have one fitted.

I don't think it is a marketing gimmick. This isn't to everyones liking, however if you're serious about photography and invest in the likes of a 1D series, you'll find that the body and grip are somewhat part and parcel of the camera.
