EXPIRED - Apply (before 22-OCT) and Spend any amount on Barclay Platinum Card and Earn £50 Voucher

533°

FOUND BY: you_never_know 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Expires: 22/10/2007

Just spotted this on MSE so can't take credit myself.

Sign up for a Barclaycard Platinum* credit card before Monday 22 October, and you'll get a voucher worth £50 when you use it to make a purchase. This can be used in M&S, Argos, Currys/Dixons, John Lewis, Boots, Debenhams, River Island and Next. This deal isnt available everywhere, only via certain websites it has deals with (this link takes you through one of them).

Simply spend any amount on the card once it comes (make sure you do it before 30 November 2007) and you'll receive a form asking you to choose which shop you want a voucher for. Fill it in and return it before 31 December 2007 to bag your freebie.

There is nothing special about asterisk (*) attached to Barclays Platinum so don't worry there is no fine-print :)

Nice one, sick of getting hit with £20 interest every month on my current balance. 2.5% fee is pretty cheap compared to most cards which are around 3%. Sweetened the deal with £50 voucher!

Excellent!

Since when are credit cards a bargain? Sorry I can't see it myself. Enjoy your debt!

Yes they are great at first and they encourage you to spend freely, but you will regret it when you have too much to pay back and then the interest with increase. Then you will be stuck paying back £200 - £300 a month etc.

Don't see the appeal myself. For a £50.00 voucher? Why not just buy the stuff yourself? I despair I really do.

£50.00 is a drop in the ocean to Barclays. It's a honey trap that's all it is.

Don't apply then. I can manage my finances and have no problem whatsoever with my supply of credit cards. Why discourage others just because of your own personal opinion?

Great deal, hoping I can apply even though I have a regular barclaycard.

It's a community believe it or not. You have a supply of credit cards then? Congratulations. I just pay with money or my business card myself no need for credit cards.

I just think credit cards are a disaster waiting to happen. The more you have the easier it is to spend money on things you don't really need.

Barclays are one of the worst companies going too of course. You will see what I mean if you go into debt with them like many people I know have. Great deal though!

Agreed, credit cards (if used correctly and in an mature fashion) can be a great way to save money and earn incentives etc. Also can help when being close to overdraft, can save you from charges etc. Like I said, only when you can control yourself to spend like an adult, if you spend on it like an immature kid or allow yourself to spend money you don't have then that's your problem!

If you can't control your spending then I would suggest this card is not for you, I for one can control my finances and am happy to take a £50 voucher for nothing. They will not get a penny out of me but I will get £50 voucher from them plus the interest whilst my money stays in my bank account a little longer before paying it off (normal household spend, not spending any extra because I have a credit card!)
