damn fine price for 6400 memory. No CL details i could see. Amazon have corsair memory for 20 quid more (2gb) but this is a good deal.

Also 3% quidco.

Aeneon?

It's recommended that you never buy cheap memory. Expensive memory is only needed for overclockers etc., but cheap memory is for no one. Only causes trouble.

Would rather stick to Corsair/Crucial/Kingston myself, but unbranded/'aeneon' ram has its place so might be useful to some.

Not true most memory is only made by a few manufacturers like Micron and Samsung. The memory chips on the dimm board. I'v used unbranded memory for years and years with no problem,
Branded memory is a relatively new twist In computer history and just a way to make more profit for the vendors.

Indeedie - it's marketing psychology. If you are releasing a product that is identical to a pre-existing product, you can either under-cut your rival for a diminished profit margin, or you can double the price of yours, which implies to the market that with the other product being so cheap, there must be something wrong with it. Seed the market with claims that cannot be demonstratably disproven ("It's more reliable!") along with claims that are true but only barely so ("It's faster! By 0.04%!"), and the market's yours. It's like electronic bottled water.

So, yeah. I'm having me some.

Don't be surprised if this memory doesn't work in your computer. It is much safer to buy a matched pair than individual cheap memory sticks like this...

Back in February when I did a big upgrade of my computer, I bought some cheap memory from Scan that looked a lot like the memory in the picture. I have just checked and they are still selling it now...
1GB MicronMajor, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5
In fact the picture on Microdirect looks identical, just a smaller version.

This memory didnt work in my Gigabyte DS3 mobo. I now use two matched pairs, one is G.Skill, the other is Geil. You dont need to go for the more expensive memory like Corsair to be safe, just as long as its a matched pair and a brand that you have heard of.

i have just had a 2nd look at Scan and I see they sell The AeneonMajor memory too (512MB tho), as well as the MicronMajor. Since they look identical and have similar names I am guessing the memory is identical and would therefore not work for me. You are taking a risk if you buy this. As I live near Scan in Bolton it was easy for me to take it back and get a refund.

If it did not work it was faulty or not in spec I have scan generic memory 2 x 1Gb in a DS3 and it works fine. If its sold as DDR2 6400 that is a spec if its not its not.
