Here's a DVD player that will play pretty much anything you throw at it. I was looking at these a few months ago for £250.

I think KISS made these orginally, but they were bought out by Linksys.

will it play x264 (.mkv) files or wmv-hd files without any conversion?

edit: seems it should play wmvHD with an update but no support for divxHD (.mkv) files.

My media centre PC does, it cost me £500 though

That being said, I only have a couple of .mkv files on it. I prefer to use DVDShrink to compress my DVDs. It keeps all DVD features intact (menus, chapters..etc).

hey refaey, what tv tuner do you use?

I've got a nova-t-500 dual dvb-t but the dvb-t reception where I am means jerky playback sometimes.

I think i've got a satellite cable coming in to my flat so might try the nova-s plus or perhaps go mental and get the hd version

I've got one of these - great (non-HD) media player but a shocking DVD player. If anyone wants a good player to stream Xvid and the like from their PC then I'd recommend, anything more than that then I wouldn't. Poor support from Kiss too.

See http://www.mpcclub.com (DP-600 forum) for the whines and whinges related to this player.

The best player is a D-Link DSM-520.

It is full HDMI and can stream wireless in HD.

Last week they also added Active TV so you can stream over 200 TV channels to it.

It's the best media player I have bought, it ever plays xvid and divx files.

However there is a new player D-Link DSM-330 which will release at the end of the month.

you can build urself a decent mediaplayer for 200 pounds that does everything and more.
