imo this is a better bet...

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114238
Toshiba SD360 (divx) DVD Player With HDMI Output
£26.45 inc. vat

Now, i realise it is a year old now but I got one for my dad back when it was nearer £100 and then always envied him for having it :/

It's played everything I chuck at it whatever format and however ****** the cdr, dvdr and it does upscaling too. Only slight down-side is the blue light on the front can be a bit annoying in a darkened room.

I just bought one so stock is from 9 down to 8 and I doubt they will be getting restocked.

can the toshiba players now be hacked for multiregion playback? I opted for a samsung player instead earlier this year as there were no hacks then
but now i regret not having gone for the philips divx players which have a USB port, much easier to play divx/vid files that way!

The SD360 can be handset hacked, not sure about the SD270 or SD370 though.

Avoid Toshiba if you want to use them for Divx/Xvid playback.

Divx/Xvid is constantly being updated and Toshiba have never and will never do firmware upgrades.

I bought an SD350 years ago and after a few months some files wouldn't playback. A new version of Divx has been released an anything encoded from that date wouldn't onwards play.

I contacted Toshiba and after a lengthy conversation what it boiled down was "Tough luck, why don't you just buy our latest model instead, after all you only spent £100 on it and it did last 9 months. Are you cheap or something?"

Just a quick bump on this one as I can't be bothered to do my own post...

These are available direct from Toshiba for £19 at the Ashford designer outlet (Kent) and possibly the Cheshire Oaks designer outlet

Bought one earlier but haven't had the time to test it yet
