Opening on a mesmerising shot of a sunrise, the third film from Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas ('Japón', 'Battle in Heaven') brings his deeply idiosyncratic approach to cinema to a community of Mennonites in northern Mexico. Husband and father Johan (Cornelio Wall) falls in love with another woman under the watchful eyes of God, and baffled by his predicament, he sets about trying to understand his inner turmoil, leading to one of the most transcendent, emotionally overwhelming finales youre likely to see this year.

same here X10, in fact I can't remember the last timeout screening I went to...think it was that rubbish film about the guy who thought his wife and kid had died in a car accident so he ran away All the time his wife and child were perfectly fine. It got my vote for most boring film EVER.
 It was nice when you could just print off the tickets right away. Anyway, worth a shot.  |
