How I deal with the new site - Custom Tab - Searching - Posting - Replying -> Sort of Guide

Navigation:


So you've arrived at the frontpage and logged in, first things first. The new look site is kinda like a 'design your pizza' when it comes to navigation. What you see is governed by 3 things. Topics, Forums and the main Tabs. For example when you arrive at the frontpage it is set for Topics: All, Forums: Deals and they are displayed via the Hot Tab. This means you are currently looking at all the deals, none of the vouchers or freebies that are hot and no cold ones which may suit you but isnt displayed because its minus 3.



If we click the Forum button from Deals to All we have all the latest hot Deals, Freebies and Vouchers though.

I like to look at the deals, all the deals, hot and cold. For this we hit the customise link over on the right which will allow us to set what we want in the custom screen.



Setup your page like I have below and you'll be able to click the custom tab and have all the latest Deals, Vouchers and Freebies, hot and cold. Remember to have your threshold at -1000, why so low? Why not? It works. If you dont want the deals to have pictures select Simple View instead of Detailed View.



Now when you click the custom tab your main page shows all the latest deals.

As for the rest of the site, you can just hit discussed tab and have the same settings I have below here. This will allow you to move between the forums that are remaining with ease. Note the View Options. Just click between Competitions to Feedback



Now this leaves you with only 3 main buttons for navigation.

Custom tab, allowing you to see all the latest deals, vouchers and freebies with one click.

Hot Tab, allowing you to see all the latest hot only deals.

Discussed Tab, allowing you to view the other categories as the old forum.

Now if you want to get carried away you can make your own combination pizza up from Topics, Forums and tabs. I do not recommend the new tab though, I think it has spoiled.


Searching:


Ah yes, searching is such fun now. Clicking the advanced link and going through like is shown below will yield the results you desire and by date.

Text Size When Replying to a Thread:


Some people have complained about the text size when replying to threads, fear not, there is a solution. Hit the Switch Editor Mode Button and it springs into life after a few seconds.




Submitting a Thread:


Simply Hit the Submit Tab found on every page and pick your category. When posting in feedback you still need a Topic, just pick any, I put all mine in nonsense because it applies best to my state of mind. This seems to apply to Deal Requests, For Sale/Trade and Misc too, For Sale/Trade wants a cash amount, put in something crazy or 0.01 because you are going to be discussing your details anyway unless you have an absolute amount in your head that your sticking by. Usual rules apply to the rest of posting, pick your category etc. relevant to your post.





Well this took a long time ... but hey ... who wants to bet I missed out things since Ive been battling with the kids to make em go to bed.

Now I had to cut it in two to fit it in cus of image count lol.

Hey -does that mean when you put a wanted in the sale/trade ad you dont have to put in a price- it tried to ignore that as its something i want and it kept asking for a price ?

This is not an option when using Opera. I can see it works in IE7 though. Maybe its a setting within opera or something? (I just have 2 double arrowheads, that just make the editor have a larger or smaller window! - ie the ones you have circled in that image - but no A/A image)

Just fire any price in but state what your wanting in the thread. Price shouldnt show, it hasnt in any others anyway. Maybe put in 0.01p because no ones going to expect that to be the right price anyway, in case it does show up.

But no, none of the current threads show a price and its like how the Feedback category doesnt show a Topic even though you buy one.

Can somone advise. I would like to see the deals posted in time sequence as the are posted one after another. At the momen they are scatered. First posted 5 hours ago second posted 3minutes ago. Is this how it is? Or I am still doing something wrong. Any ideas? Thank you

Use the "new" tab. The times which you are looking at is the time of the last comment on that deal.

good guide thanks for doing that, one quick question for you I have managed to do some of the custom part but one thing sticks out like a sore thumb and I cant seem to figure it out and just wondering if you can point me in right direction please.

After selecting what I am wanting to see in the custom section I would like to have it in order of when last post was i.e. like forums were in old site. Somehow at moment when I go into custom I can have a post that was posted a week ago apear before a post of 5 minutes ago or a few hours ago.
How do I fix this so that I am able to see things in custom choices and sorted by last post to that topic whilst not seeing things like for sale private adds or something else that is not on my custom list please?
