My first post, so apologies if I've done anything wrong...
Standby Buster Starter Kit with 3 sockets - RRP £29.99.
If you select the 3 socket set, although it says it is £29.99, it adds to your basket with a cost of £19.99, including VAT, saving £10.
I ordered a set on Saturday evening, and it arrived today (Tuesday).
There is delivery to pay, but you are still making a good saving - plus you will probably save the amount it costs you over the next few months on your electricity bill.... and you'll be doing your bit for the environment :-)
I don't think the orders will be processed now until the new year, but it's worth ordering at this price.
Information from the website is as follows:
"Brand new to our energy-saving range, Standby Buster is aimed at the householder who wants a basic starter kit for switching their appliances off 'standby' mode, a modern convenience we have all got used to which accounts for a great deal of unnecessary - and avoidable - energy wastage in the home. Use this kit to save energy while retaining the convenience of 'standby' mode.
The wireless remote switching works through walls and doors using radio, so 'line-of-sight' to your plug socket is not required. Standby Buster has a maximum load capacity of 3.5KW, making it ideal for use with powerful HiFi or home entertainment systems. This is as yet the only product of its kind that carries the approval of the Energy Saving Trust*.
It is estimated that leaving electric appliances on stand-by uses about 7% of all electricity in UK homes. That is equivalent to the electricity generated from two gas-fired power stations or from more than 1,500 wind turbines**. With over 3.5 million tonnes of the principle greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2)*** being wasted by equipment left on standby each year, Standby Buster will help reduce this wasted energy consumption and in turn save you money. Additional sockets are available to expand the system.
*Standby Buster is the only mains controller with a certified electricity consumption of less than 1 Watt that is approved by the Energy Saving Trust for use on consumer electronics equipment ("Energy Saving Recommended" rating from the Energy Saving Trust).
