Decent XBox 360 bundle at Blockbuster (instore)

£229.99

FOUND BY: john swfc 1 year, 11 months ago

My Premium 360 died, just in time for Christmas, so I was looking for an Arcade / Core system to tide me over (I have the hard drive from the original machine).

Was in my local Blockbuster last night and they have the Arcade console pack with the 5 arcade games, plus Halo 3, FIFA 08 and a choice of either Assassins Creed or Kane & Lynch for a total of £229.99 which I thought was a good deal considering you'd be very unlikely to find any of those games for less than £25 each.

My shop had FIFA out of stock, which suited me as I already have it but they provided a list of other options which included Bioshock, PGR4, MOH Airborne and many others. I went for Tiger Woods 08 as I already had most of the good ones on the list.

They did have several other bundle options including the Pro and Elite consoles but I didn't really examine those closely given that I was only after the Arcade version. I think the Pro pack with the same games options was £30 more although they did have quite a lot of options with various games packages.

There was also the option to add the Forza / Pinata and extra wireless controller pack for an extra £20.

Results from find-dvd

Cheapest prices:

Halo 3 = £34.99
Fifa08 = £34.99
Assasins creed - £29.99
Kane and Lynch - 27.99

So all in all your looking at £99.97's worth of games - not bad at all (£97.97 if you chose Kane and Lynch)

Good deal!

However, the Gamestation 360 Core/Base Model is £150, a saving of £80.

So go for this if you're wanting these games at these prices before Christmas, else get the Gamestation one and get CoD4 for £25, Halo 3 for £29.99 (both at Gamestation) and PES 2008 for £31.48 (SoftUK)

IMHO this is a better option, but each to their own! And this is in store, without much hunting around too...

Aren't the Core ones the older models though? This Blockbuster deal is the Arcade version with the 5 arcade games, an HDMI slot and manufacture date of September 2007 - should be a bit more reliable!

My mistake - it is an ARCADE model - see Forum Post:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/127127/xbox-360-arcade-system-149-99-games/all/all/hot/showthread.php?t=127127&page=2

This comes with (quoted):

Xbox 360 Arcade also includes
wireless controller,
an HDMI connection to enable high-definition output if desired
and 256MB of memory - useful for storing games and other entertainment content.

The Xbox 360 Arcade console will include the full versions of the five best-selling games from the Xbox LIVE® Arcade including
PAC-MAN Championship Edition (NAMCO BANDAI Games)
Uno
Luxor 2
Boom Boom Rocket (Electronic Arts)
Feeding Frenzy.

Still a slightly better deal if you want choice over the games you end up with. But that's my opinion, and only that!

OK cheers for clearing that up!

Both good deals - personally I went for the Blockbuster one because I didn't have Halo 3 or Assassins Creed and wanted them both, and also had the bonus of being able to substitute TIger 08 for FIFA, therefore getting around £100 worth of games included.

Like I said though, there were several other deals on for the Arcade, Pro and Elite consoles with different mixes of games (some of which were "any game")
