bargain, I was going to get the 40" from tesco tomorrow, but this works out much cheaper (£13.51 per inch instead of £15 per inch) and seems to be exactly the same model and spec.

Cheers mate - ordered, heat and rep

The 'P' Series, which is this 37" set, is an entry level panel so the picture quality is good for £500 quid but is by no means the best Sony out there.

The best deal I have seen so far is this 40" set from Currys:
http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/490216

£900 for one of the newer 40" panels is a superb buy in my opinion. This one is the 'V' Series which has only been out for a few months and as you will see from the spec has the usual bells and whistles (full 1080 panel/ high contrast ratios/ a few HDMI ports).
Pop into the store to have a look at it and enjoy!

Btw you may be able to get it even cheaper with codes on HUKD but I was just pointing out the set so you will have to check that for yourself

This seems a good compromise. 40" or greater you'd want 1080p.

Depends, because on SD you would have more scan lines and larger screens that are 40" + screens that are 720p would most likely handle it better than a 1080p screen due to not having to improvise as much for the missing pixels.

its not as simple as for this size you need this resolution. you need to take other factors such as how far you will be viewing from in to consideration.
