Couldn't belive it! Its a fantastic business laptop (way better than the crappy Dells or Acers). With three year HP warranty and brilliant 1440 ?900 res screen! We use the same laptops where we work and these are good.

From the Misco page:

* A powerfull Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 GHz
* 1GB DDR2 Ram to run even the most demanding of applications
* An ultra mobile 14.1" WXGA+ (1440 ?900 resolution), with ambient light sensor
* With intergrated Intel® Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g as well as Bluetooth and optional 3G Broadband staying connected has never been easier
* Genuine Windows® XP Professional
* 2-in-1 Bridge Media Card Reader
* DVD Super Multi (Double Layer) drive

HP must either be going bonkers or discontinuing this line, but who cares, its still a great deal because even a couple of months ago, these were selling at £1200 a pop!

P.S. Don't be intimidated by the fact that its got only a gig of RAM, laptop RAM is not as expensive as it used to be, for example, in the Crucial site I can see that 2 gig only costs £32.89 (http://crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=Business%20Notebook%20nc6400)

yeah you may get more for your money with Dell but in my opinion these HP's would be a far better buy. Dell = Rubbish ....

Blimey, for first posters we are wanting to start a brawl aren't we, both maxpayne and mrbenn2007 have definite opinions regarding how great HP are, yet I have worked with two companies who both use dells exclusively without problem I don't see where you get this dell is **** from, on most 2007 results dell did extremely well.... with regards to post...great 3 year warranty, poor specs.

Why are Dells rubbish?

I agree that HP machines are good, but this particular one I would not recommend since the specs are really not all that... in particular, I completely disagree with:

:
* 1GB DDR2 Ram to run even the most demanding of applications
This statement is extrememly out of date and even just Vista loading up will be a struggle.

First of all, let's see if Dell will give you a 3 year warranty for the same spected machine at the same cost?

Will you get a 1440x900 res screen? Bluetooth?

Not to mention the build quality of HP, which is far superior than the cheap plasticky Dell.

The 1 GB banter is from the Misco website, copied verbatim. I agree its not really a killer, hence I pointed out that you can easily get RAM upgrade and it would still be worthwhile IMO.

I don't need a 3 year warranty since I can more than capable of fixing a computer when it goes wrong myself. I'd rather the people that DO need the warranty are charged separately for it, rather than the cost being absorbed into the price of the hardware itself.

The processor is really good but you would expect everything else to be more up to date for that price.

Good CPU, but let down by lack of memory and small hard drive. Far better deals on the market IMHO.

Welcome to HUKD though to the OP... never take negative comments personally - and keep on searching!!!

I've owned an HP laptop before, I just UPGRADED to a Dell Vostro 1700 with better specs and quality for the cost..... which was funnily enough slightly less.

What are you basing your Dell comments on as I've always received excellent service?

I was going to post this deal as I think it’s very good for what it is at this price. This gets very good reviews and although the small hard drive seems to be an anomaly on a PC like this the RAM can be easily upgraded as I think it comes with a single 1GB stick.

Comparing this moderately light and compact 14” model which has XP Pro and a 3 year warranty against a much heavier and bulkier Vostro 1700 with a 1 year warranty is missing the point I feel. They are a different class of laptop and I’d be surprised if you had a 2GHz C2D at a price less than this.

I would concur if this was a desktop system as I’m comfortable fixing them but laptops can be much harder to diagnose problems on and the cost of spare parts and repairs can be prohibitively expensive. I can really see the value of a 3 year warranty for a machine like this which is aimed at Business users so can expect to see a lot of travelling.

With an extra 1GB RAM I think this would be a great laptop for people who take their laptop out with them a lot and are therefore more likely to require a repair; good for students on a 3 year course.
If the warranty was on-site then all the better but at this price I can’t quibble with a collect and return policy. Voted hot and rep left.
