Why cold? Is there a better deal out there?

All the reviews I've seen give it 5 stars so I'm puzzled.

Please can you leave an explanation if you are voting the deal cold.

Thank you.

That's an easy answer, if it's not a £300 Dell machine most of the "deal hunters" round these parts aren't interested. No accounting for taste

That and most of the people who would be interested in that kind of spec machine build their own...

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I was hoping to get a bit of a steer on making the purchase because it's a great deal of money to fork out. So even if folk vote cold, it would be great to know why.

I resisted the Dell Laptop. Got one for the Mrs though.

Figured I want to get hold of something future proof. Could spend £500 now and not get state of the art and spend another £500 in a couple of years and still not get state of the art or fork out £1000 now and have state of the art for a couple of years and no need to upgrade for ages.

Any constructive advice would be appreciated.

Wonder if Mike has any thoughts or ideas. I've seen a few of his posts and they look pretty spot on!

This isn't a proprietary OEM machine ala DELL, so pretty much anyone could bolt this together for less than £950 by buying the same components from the same site (yes i did check the prices).

If you aren't up to building your own machine then yes this is a good buy. Otherwise save yourself £200 and build it yourself !

Personal advice is that the PSU is a little over specc'd compared with only having a single 500Gb ! drive. I'd downsize the PSU to 700w-800w and get a second HD.
I just got the same case delivered yesterday but not had a chance to build it yet - looks just the job.

Not voted hot or cold.

Just spotted No Operating System, shipping £12.95 plus VAT...I would suggest looking at Chill Blast, I think at this rate there are some better deals to be had......do they supply a warranty??

Overclockers do not sell "systems" even though they call them that on their site. I recommended an OCUK system to a friend a couple of years ago. When it arrived, the screen would blank out every 20-30 minutes and require a reboot. Overclockers refused to have anything to do with it, saying that they just sold components and had merely put them together for our convenience.

Avoid!

Might be a good deal to some granted.

I wouldnt pay this kinda money for the best PC on the planet myself, regardless of how good the spec is!

As someone else already said, buy the bits & build it yourself

Overclockers have a legendarily bad reputation for customer services.

This is about twice the price of this system:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/13576...ase-unit-quad/
Which (aside from the GC being a GTX not a GT) is basically the same base spec.

You should be getting a Crossfire/SLI system for that sort of price I think.

I think I might just try my hand a building it myself but it's seriously daunting as I haven't been near building a PC for years. Last time almost gave me a heart attack! Three nights with no sleep rebuilding a machine that had all my data on it and a serious deadline to meet! I met the deadline but swore I would avoid getting on my knees and beging a dead PC to come back to life! Now I back-up my back-ups. Lesson learned...

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like this is not the amazingly hot deal I thought it was.

Please keep your eyes open for a highend machine deal and post it or let me know.

Thanks again

Who knows, I've posted 10% off deals before for small sites and got "cold" rating. I mean 10% off for nothing, if you don't want to buy anything from the site, sure.

I think the sad thing is that this site is used by far to many people who not only want something for nothing. They want 10 of them to make a profit on ebay. It's certainly gone that way in the 3 years I've been using the site.

And the Dell system you quoted includes the OS. Can you overclock the Dell system, though? They lock down the bios on most of their systems.
I haven't had much to do with overclockers, but they must be seriously bad to have gained the reputation that they have.
