This hasn't been released yet (released 22nd Feb) but seems quite a bargain for a new Wii game. This is what they have to say about it.

Star Trek: Conquest features a blend of intense action and strategy set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation era. While effectively managing your resources, you must lead your forces in a campaign to control the Galaxy, one planet at a time.

Real-Time Starship Combat:
Take direct control of any ship and experience intense action as you engage in real-time combat.

Strategic Command:
Planets held by Next Generation era races are set in a large galactic map, where turn-based strategy allows you to build and expand your empire.

Six Playable Races:
Choose to command the Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion, or Breen race, each with their own unique set of strengths and weaknesses.

I found 2 reviews (gamingexcellence.com and uk.wii.ign.com) they rated it as 4/10 "terrible" and 6.8/10 "passable".

That's probably why it's been released at such a cheap price so early on. I'm going to give it a try at this price. reviews don't always reflect the gameplayers experiences.

Nintendo World report gave it 8 out of 10. I guess it's the fact that it's turn base instead of an all out Trekkie shootemup that is annoying people. I've never played a turn based game before but I will give it a go!

Not one for the Trekkies.

When you load it up it says:

"Diplomacy is Dead, all major races now only care about conquering homeworlds".

****.

Game is quite addictive at first but there's no depth, and the character choices are poor. Some made up even. You can't do much in the game and it gets old quick.

It's not really Star Trek, as has been said. A poorer version of RISK,

This might have been good on the PSP or DS for pick up and playability but on the Wii? Nah.

* Am a Star Trek fan by the way.

Yes, they are what used to be Virgin Megastore and I have been using them a long time with no trouble . Service since the name change is as good as ever.

Try out Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords on the PC.

Best Turn based strategy currently available in my opinion.

If you are referring to Star Trek Conquest .......... Birth of the Federation IS NOTHING LIKE IT. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Galactic Civilizations is like Birth of the Federation. Sorry if you meant that.

Edit: I loved Birth of the Federation. One of my favourite Star Trek games along with Bridge Commander, a Final Unity and Armada. Not to mention the Next Gen game on the Snes. That was cool too.

For an excellent turn-based game on the PC from an independent source, I've been enthralled by Armageddon Empires. Galactic Civilizations is fun, and I've been with them from the first incarnation.
The reason I'm tempted by the Start Trek game for the Wii is that it is for the Wii and that I can probably get my Trekkie wife interested.
