2gb Micro SD card & other memory card deals - Cheapest on the high street & online? (using pricematch)

£6.81

218°

FOUND BY: bazcab 1 year, 9 months ago

I recently purchased 2 of these cards from PC World, so know this deal does work.

PC World currently have their 110% price promise, and have a limited number of people they will price match against.

The price for their 2gb Sandisk Micro SD card on their site is £19.85 (bloomin ridiculous price), however they say they will pricematch www.play.com, and play have the same card for a mere £8.49 (UPDATE, PLAY HAVE REDUCED THEIR PRICE TO £7.99, MAKING THE PC WORLD PRICEMATCH PRICE NOW £6.81)

PC World will match this price, and take 10% of the difference off, reducing the price of a 2gb Micro SD card on the high street to a SUPERB £7.36
I managed to bag 2 of these, even though the t&c's of the price match mention that it is limited to 1.

Best to check the majority of memory cards at Pc World, as there are bargains to be had, eg.

Sandisk Extreme 3 2gb Compact Flash - PC world £59..99, Play.com £13.49
Price after pricematch - £8.84

Sandisk Extreme 3 4gb Compact Flash - PC World £94.99, Play.com £22.99
Price after pricematch - £15.79

Price after pricematch - £9.34 (edit - PC World instore price is actually £59.99, making the instore pricematch price £8.84)

Sandisk Extreme 3 4gb Compact Flash - PC World £94.99, Play.com £22.99

It would be better to add this to the OP and then make it a general thread about cheap memory cards?

Why do they rip people off in the first place... they shouldnt need to price match. Pc World is way too overpriced.

But nice find - nonetheless!!! Voted hot

All I've done in the past is print out the page from the website that has the lower price, and print out the price promise policy from PC World, and take them into your local store.

Pick up the item you want, and take them to the checkout and advise them you wish to get a pricematch , be sure to make them aware that it is 10% off the difference as well, as they tend to "forget" that.

Good point Gary, I've amended the title to state "memory card deals", and included the Compact flash deal info.

Cheers

only worth it if you are living close by as with play.com you get quidco as well. I am talking about memory cards but there could be more savings for an expensive item.

The saving is a lot more than 4% quidco! On the memory cards listed above!

Where on their price match terms does it say they price match play? My local PC World swansea, are not the most forthcomming when offering discounts at the best of time let alone price matching.

It's right at the bottom of the price match policy page:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/edi...-match-promise

Websites: items sold by Amazon.co.uk*, Argos, Asda, B&Q, Comet, Dabs*, Dell, Evesham Technology*, Game, Gamestation, Halfords, HMV, Jessops, John Lewis, Maplin, Misco*, Play, Staples, Tesco, Toys r Us, Virgin, Woolworths

I agree wth Octopus, I have a PC World fairly close to me but I would rather give play.com the business as the costs (pertrol etc) and the time involved in doing this are too much compared to pressing a few buttons online, well for a memory card anyway. Also I feel quite strongly that PC World and others in this situation should not be given the business as they should not be so high in the first place.

I do agree however if it was a bigger item then it is a different story as it always pays to shop around.
