Its a good price, same price on Amazon though. Also, not sure but think later models have a software update which you have to pay for on earlier models.

Also, 8GB is being discontinued and 16gb and 32gb are expected to drop in price.

I agree with you Kev on holding out for the 16Gb version to come down to around the previous price of the 8Gb one and the same for the 32Gb to come down to the current 16Gb price. The cost of the software upgrade for the Touch is an extra £12.99 on iTunes if it didn't come with it. The best deal I've seen, but is no longer available, on the 8Gb was at Scan for around £158, but I think it's worth holding out to see if you can get more Gb for your buck!

i bought my son an 8GB for Xmas. He loves it but I suppose at some point he will want a bigger capacity, but for now it is great.
What does the software upgrade consist of? Is it worth doing??

Is it worth it? I guess that depends on what your son uses his Touch for and if you think he'll use the 5 new applications listed above. I have to admit that I don't even own one at the moment, but a friend upgraded his and he thought it was well worth paying the upgrade cost - I certainly would pay the additional charge to get the extra features. Hope that helps.
