Free or cheap cavity wall installation

£149.00

-15°

FOUND BY: tibby 2 years, 2 weeks ago

In response to 'Get your home insulated for FREE with British Gas (if you claim benefits) !'

I took advantage of this deal and was told by a BG representative that 'Mark Group' would visit my property to conduct a survey. Visited their website out of curiousity and it seems you do not need to go through your energy provider to access such offers.

Have a look. Prices seem to range from £149 - £169 if you have to pay.

Yeah, nPower sent a leaflet saying that they would do both cavity walls and insulation for £150 a month ago.

No, the deal being posted here is for those not on benefits or low incomes. Anyone can get it for around £150. I will pitch in with another supplier that comes recommended:

I have a detached house and am not on benefits. Are you saying that I could get someone to come and insulate my loft for £169? I have been thinking about doing it myself but costed it at well over £100 from the local DIY shed. It would take me a day and involve several trips to the store to collect rolls and never mind the discomfort and hard work of fitting it!

£169 seems very very cheap and as my current gas bill is over £750 per year the money should be recouped within a couple of years.

I have an old build house, 1920's detached. I'm not sure if my walls are solid or have a cavity, is there a way I can check before I look silly asking for a survey?

depends on the square footage. I went via this scheme and the quote came to £334 fitted. The cost of materials was £200 alone but I decided to do it myself anyway as i dont work.

I seem to recall they will only overlay over existing insulation up to the recommended depth (about 28cm) so best to remove all insulation before they quote you.
