Wow, so 100% of their customers were unsatisfied; I’m surprised they are still trading.

the specs quoted are incorrect - the whole reason these ones are cheap is because they are not the better pva type - they are some rogue tradition not as good TN types that somehow got into the batch.

These are PVA panels - at least read the item description.
The TN panels are on a seperate listing on OCUK
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=670&subcat=

personally you have got to ask why these are B Grade, stuck pixels, poor backlight bleed etc. I don't think it is the best idea in the world to buy a B Grade Monitor unless you are not overly fussy - especially from these guys.

Yes simply these are the ones that have been returned for what ever reason.

I myself returned one 2 weeks ago as it had a green pixel in the middle, and the backlight bleed was very uneven.

Not enough to RMA so i paid for postage myself (£12) to send it back via parcelforce under the Distance Selling Regulations act (DSR).

Got a full refund of the price i paid at the time.

So if anyone buys these "B" grade ones and gets one with a green pixel slap bang in the middle, it was mine LOL

TBH, the quality on my xbox 360 at the full 1920x1080 was not up to scratch, this was the main reason I sent it back and wasnt happy. My brothers 50" samsung @ 1080p looks so much better when if you think about it, the pixels are stretched so much more to fit a 50" size instead of a 24".

No HDCP either! so don't conn yourself into beilieving that the DVI port on this will have it, IT DOESNT!

I used it with a HDMI to DVI cable and also via the Microsoft VGA cable, though slightly crisper on the DVI port, the picture quality was the same. Almost like the resolution was much lower, jagged lines etc. It was definatly at the full 1920x1080!

My 200 pence

The non 'B' grade version of these was posted a few days ago.
I commented then that i wouldn't have even bought one of those as there were many quality issues.
See the original thread.... http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15264...-24-widescreen

I must say that my opinion hasn't changed since then...if anything i'd be more inclined to say no.If you read the long thread on the Overclockers forums mentioned in the original post you'll see why.Loads more being returned since then..

HTH

I got an A Grade one and its fine, but the B Grade stuff is all the dead pixel ones etc. or refunds due to bleeding etc.

TBH the HDCP is not an issue for me, as its for my PC not a HD media system (PS3/360 etc)

You need to remember its a £200 24" screen, so it will have limited options. My work £400 dell screen has memory card slots, hdmi etc. adjustable height etc.

Like people say, you get what you pay for, and for the £222 I paid, its spot on, for £187 it may not be as good but £40 less. For an extra £200 I would expect alot more from it.

after all the carry on with the hannspree set sold by ocuk that wasn't in stock in the end, what's to say all those ordering this are going to get the TV anyways?

i'd say save your money for something better unless you like buying other peoples rejects...

I rang up to place my order - and the guy confirmed that B-Grade means returns / repairs.

The monitor I am replacing is a Dell 2005FPW... by no means a bad monitor - but my 3 yr old son put a scrathch on the screen .

I understand the scepticism... but I don't think it's fair to speculate on what this B-Grade stock is like... there's actually a possibility that you're more likely to get a goodun - given that someone would have taken it out the box and power it up to sanction it to be resold????

Well - tomorrow morning I'll give you my verdict - you'll all know about it if it's no good!

You will open the box, find nothing wrong with it, post it's greatness here, then after a few days realise ahh, that's why it would have been sent back!

Just because you may not see the fault, doesnot mean that it's not there.

Well it should be pretty obvious from the large thread on OCUK that you will not get a perfect B Grade Monitor as they seem unable to supply perfect A Grade Panels at the moment!!
Seems they got more than the claimed 50 contaminated TN Panels too ... let us know how it performs as you might just get lucky and some fussy bargain hunter has sent a perfect one back.

So far so good....

If you're going to order one of these - don't get your hopes up... it isn't a Dell, and is some way off the mark.

However - what I ordered as B-Grade stock was not bad B-Grade stock. Maybe I got lucky - but apart from it being obvious that it had been unpacked before - everything was in good order. There are no dead pixels on my screen - and the backlight looks to be uniform to me. I've not put it next to my old Dell monitor for comparison - but using it on it's own, it's more than adequate.

One thing I will say - the viewing angle in the horizontal plane is good - but in the verical plane it's more like 0 degrees than 180! I can live with that - but be warned as I can imagine that not being acceptable for some people.

Considering the saving, I am happy. I might be tempted to upgrade again in the future (when I'm felling flush - and perhaps the 2008 Dell monitors have come down in price) but until then, I'll stick with this DGM monitor.

Adam.
