Dual price listings for Amazon items under £15

POSTED BY: BristolDeal 2 months, 1 week ago

Hi

I think that items listed from Amazon which don't qualify for free delivery (i.e. anything under £14.96) should have to be listed containing the price for Amazon Prime members (i.e. without postage) AND the price for regular shoppers (i.e. with postage).

Plenty of other sites have to be listed as "delivered" prices, so why not Amazon? For instance, the Robbie Williams CD that was submitted tonight - it's not accurate to say you can buy this CD for £1.96, because there is £1.45 postage to pay if you don't use Amazon Prime. It's not a bargain if you have to spend another £13 to get it for that price.

Fair enough some people want 'filler' items, but I think it's misleading to post deals as that. If you're posting a deal about ONE item, the details should be about ONE item - not as a supplementary or additional item.

:)

I've never seen them do that!

Didn't happen here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15417...ebox-1-96-ama/

Here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15417...-aloud-chemis/

Here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15339...n1-adapter-6-/

Here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15330...-nice-filler-/

Here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15312...97-p-p-amazon/ (says +P&P in the title, so why not include it in the item price??)

I could go on. (and I do!)

One mod was guilty of it even after I pointed out that the postage was almost double the price of the item: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/15035...g-dumbbell-tr/

I have to say that the Ebuyer ones particularly annoy me, especially when someone lists an item for a few quid and then says "Free Delivery over £49.99!"...

No, because I've only seen them tonight. Plus that's not what the report button is for.

I have questioned the report button before, and emma has said that the message that says:

Is a generic one that she doesn't think can be changed, and is fine to report other things.

Well I wouldn't waste the mods time with threads that are half dead anyway. If it was made a general rule about the pricing of Amazon items, I wouldn't need to report them at all...!

I disagree actually..it may be the rule but I disagree with it (Im allowed because were in the feedback thread).

The difference between a hot deal and a nothing deal, especially for CDs, DVDs and so forth is about £1. So if every single amazon deal includes postage, all it means is that most people will just have to remmeber how much it costs for postage and deduct it.

I don't know about anyone else, but for myself, I always try to make up orders of £15...I never buy a single item for say £3 or whatever.

Whereas other shops, such as Ebuyer...the difference between a hot deal and a none hot deal is usually much more than a £1. More in the region of say £5...

Though I must admit I can see the other side of the coin too..if your not one of those who stores up purchases...then having a deal included without the postage could be very annoying...

Let me clarify......

1) If the price of postage is included in the price when you post it up &
2)And most people won't be paying the postage (or at least I assume most don't because there are so many threads about amazon fillers to make it up to £15)

It follows that most people, whenever they scan the amazon threads will just have to memorise the amount for the P&P of amazon for a DVD or a book. eg £1.45.

So when you write up: Die hard 4.0@£7.00 at Amazon.co.uk

I assume most people would then think, £7.00-£1.45 = £5.55

So they know the true price of what they are paying for.

Does anyone else follow that? Or does that make no sense whatsoever?

Thats just my opinion though, and I am not afraid to say I have been wrong before!

Last time we brought this up, Admin said:

Admin:
If it's a normal item under £15 and p&p applies then yes that p&p cost should be listed as normal although a comment about getting a filler item and thus shipping free for the same overall cost is recommended.

If it's a really cheap item and meant as an item to top-up for free shipping then it can be listed without p&p as long as it's listing is as a cheap topup item.

I think that makes sense?
So I'd say if an item is very low priced, it's OK to list the price without postage as long as you put that it's a filler item in the title...

Obviously, something that's £7 isn't a filler item... and henceforth it should be listed with postage.

In my opinion the best way to do this is to say the price "£x.xx" then add "+ £x.xx delivery". If you have space you could even add in the title "(Free P&P over £15)".

Well that's all very well, but it's still multiple rules isn't it, and therefore open to confusion. How about "Anything under £15 has to be listed with postage costs." and then there's no misinterpretation?
