Best usenet supplier in the world. I've used around 8 others, so I can compare :P

Glad to be back with them, most others had an 8mbps cap. This uses my entire 20mbps line.

Usenet is the worlds best way to download anything. Peer 2 Peer (torrents, emule etc) depend on who is uploading to you. Usenet uses server farms, meaning fullspeed downloads :)

If you don't know what it is, then you prolly don't need it.

Usenet allows you to download movies, games, music and everything torrents do, but from huge server farms. Meaning you get fantastic speeds at all times, without having to upload to anyone else yourself.

It predated the internet itself, where people would post news, have discussions and send files there. Nowadays, it's the best way to download anything. It's always the first place to have most movies as well.

So pluun, please, respect the internet :P Use google when you're unsure of something.

Does life mean life? £8.60 and that's it?

Sounds like a ruddy great deal to me!

Sorry but I though asking in here was using the internet in a more productive way than googling and sifting through thousands of mainly irrelevant results.
It's not my fault they's so unimaginative that they gave themselves a name that didn't relate to what they do.
Just think.
If Ford Motor Company were as clever as them they'd be called Plonker's Pie Company.

Pluun, The original purpose, and what it still does, is relay news. Its the most sensible name for them. AND WHY IS THIS COLD?

Oh right. You guys want free trials with new starts who offer rubbish retention, TERRIBLE completion and below-par speed.

Quality is what I'm on about here. Just for the record, I've used newsrazor, usenetserver, hitnews, and all the other junky providers you lot post about. An extra three quid per month is nothing when you consider how much better it is. Newsdemon are only second to giganews.

And if you googled "usenet" Pluun, you'd have gotten the explanation you wanted, in simple terms INSTANTLY.

Seriously. Drivers need to take a test before they're let out into the world, why can't there be a proficiency test for internet usage too?

Good job there isn't a proficiency test for Rsoles, you'd pass with flying colours!

Oooh... Handbags!

You seem to be missing the whole point of what we call a forum. It's a place where folk help each other out - in the case of HUKD it's a place where people share bargains they find and such like. Yes there are other forums more suited to the needs of Pluun's Qs. And yes... Getting into all this on here takes the thread off topic somewhat. A thing no-one really wants to happen.

As you point out, you are experienced in the Newsgroup field and Googling does not take you straight to an answer. Some sifting is required - which is a fair ask if someone really wants to know something bad enough - and SHOULD be tried more often. But we all do it... Or don't... Depending ow you look at it!?!

A little courtesy goes a long way though, and without veering too far from te threads/forum's purpose, a gentle nudge in the right direction wouldn't have gone amiss... A link perhaps... A 2 second job to someone with your apparent expertise!

One last thing... You may have noticed my 1st post in this thread. Another seemingly daft question now on the face of it. Your title should be updated to clarify this point though as "£8.60 for life" indicates just that.

this deal does look interesting, but I wish people would take their clever rows elsewhere as it gets in the way of the deal

Back to the deal, I use Newshosting.

Unlimited, 80 days retention, 8 connections for $15 a month.

Good value while the dollar is so weak against the pound.

I've used newshosting as well whirly You should give these guys a shot! You'd be paying the same, but speed, retention and completion is much better!

The free newsrover software is poo however. Best sticking to Newsbin as a client. It does EVERYTHING.
