UncleMike:
It's worth also looking into amazon.com.
They're selling Season 1 and Season 2 for $40.99 each. I bought Season 2, it cost a touch over £20 including delivery, and took about a week to arrive.
I never have quite worked out why most high street stores sell these seasons for about £50 each. No other 20+ part series (such as 24) is priced this ridiculously...
Mind you, having seen how bad Season 3 is, I doubt they'll be able to do the same rip-off when that comes out on DVD.
Firstly, I don't think it is worth the £5 saving buying from Amazon.com for a couple of reasons.
1) Region 1 discs. I no that multi-region players are literally everywhere, but there is still a risk that one day you might want them played on some dvd-player somewhere that has no chance to play anything but region 2 discs.
2) NTSC video format. It seems insane to buy a DVD whose video is NTSC formatted, when there exist PAL versions available. Of course, you might be playing it on a PC, or a normal DVD player and TV that can output and accept (respectively) an NTSC video signal. But even if that is true, you still end up with a 480 vertical resolution rather than 576.
3) Delivery time and possible customs nonsense.
I know these are possibly small, insignificant things. But, then again, £5 must also be deemed small and insignificant. It's just my opinion (e-pinion?), but I think stating that saving a few squid by purchasing from an American supplier is nuts. If it's £20, maybe. Of course, this argument is not applicable to DVDs without a PAL, region 2 counterpart currently available. Also, it is not applicable to HD-DVDs or region-free Blu-rays, as their video format (res. and fps) remains the same across all nations' releases.
Secondly, the retail stores charge ridiculous prices as they are being rogered by all the online, overhead-less legends, that I like to call e-tailers. Just flatten the high-street stores, I say (except clothes and food places), and plant some god-damned trees, while we forget about how many e-tailer warehouses are popping up all over the greenfield and brownfield sites.
Voted hot. Season 3 is OK, I thought. Equally as unbelievable as the others, and equally as fun. Lincoln's got about 7 brain cells (maybe also Dominic Purcell?), and Michael just walks about talking under his breath at people all the time. I wish there were less sh*tty soaps, like Hollyoaks, and more of this entertaining, non-depressing stuff.
