Nice deal Forsaken as I have always found the Energizer batteries to be the best.

Actually I quite like JPJenkins' turn of phrase that "non-recharge batteries are bad". At last someone speaks their mind about a product that they choose not to buy. I would like to use this opportunity to say that books with Buddhist texts are bad, trips to Mecca are bad, tampons are bad, bras are bad, cigarettes are bad, bottles of rum are bad, teach-yourself-Chinese tapes are bad, pizzas with pineapple in the topping are bad, caravans are bad and - last but not least - vegetarian cookbooks are bad.

I am being sarcastic of course.

Does anyone know how Energizer batteries compare to Duracell Plus? If they are better, then this is a fantastic bargain.

Might be worth looking at the new gen of rechargeables though (Hybrios, Eneloops etc). They don't drain when not used (or barely), and with a decent charger you can reuse them countless times. Where old-gen rechargeables were a pain in finding them half discharged when you get around to using them, these can basically be used as a direct replacement for conventional batteries. Better for the environment than throwaways, more convenient because you won't need to buy again for years, and cheaper to boot (especially if you go through lots of them).

Sometimes you simply can't use rechargeables as the voltage is too low.
Rechargeable 1.2v....Alkalike cell 1.5v. Sometimes that 0.3v makes all the difference between an item working or not.

Rechargeables are great for high consumption / regular use items. But for clocks, remotes, back-up supplies etc., too much bother as they mostly discharge themselves in a month or two.

Gonna get some of these for the LED torches i got from ledshoppe last week. No point having torches in the cars or around the house when they`ve got discharged rechargeables in them!

Yeah - this is why I mentioned newgen rechargeables. After 3 months they only lose 10% at most through natural discharge, whereas traditional rechargeables will be down 60% or so (and that's new ones I guess, in practice most will be dead in two months in my experience). See here:

Thus, basically for high powered stuff there's not much difference (and you might be better with 2700mah Fujis or the like), but for longterm lowpower stuff they're perfect.

You`re not wrong there. The new generation rechargeables are great. I use them in portable tools. But i still think for sitting in an LED torch lurking in the glovebox for a couple of years before being needed, alkalines are a better option. Certainly cheaper, anyway.

I bought the PIFCO Alkaline Batteries. 20 x AA for a bargain price of £2!!!
