Totally True, it's ok for mobiles, but takes ages to charge up, and even longer using the solar method, better off getting an "Emergency" AA Charger.

I just wish they would come up with something like this for my EEE PC

I heard that the Gadget show raved about them and there seems to be several good reviews for them. What were you useing it with. what were the weather conditions?

I was going to get one for my hols so i wouldn't need to take 6 diffrent chargers.

I have one of these. What a waste of money! Tried it in the full sunshine of the Med, and took far too long to get a charge. Ended up recharging it with electricity.

Hi I was under the impression that there were several solar powered (or solar&mechanical) chargers that could power laptops, so surely they could manage an EEE PC?
Not sure how portable they are though, and I don't actually have an EEE PC but am seriously considering getting 1

Okay I ordered one and put it to the test

After USB charge for first charge (as recomended) raised my PSP from practically empty to nearly full and then gave a 5% charge to my Mobile (a Sony Erricson 610i)

Charged on window sill all day in direct sunlight and charged phone about 10-20%

Then found I could remove protective film cover on solar panels (duh)

Charged in direct sunlight for 5 hours and it gave my phone a 50% charge

may get slightly better results on holiday but I can't see this fully charging my phone unless i USB charge it all the time. Going on holiday soon so will take it and see if it can top up my camera while i'm away (however i'm dam well taking the proper charger too!!
