I tried using this code on the 12th April. I was told by the Dell merchant that this voucher code expired on the 11th and was no longer valid.
However, this didn't actually stop me from getting a 10% discount. Keen for my business, the telephone sales rep said she would speak to her manager to see if they could give me a discount anyway. She got back to me and made me an offer which equated to about 7 or 8% off. I said that I was aware that vouchers came around quite regularly so I would hold out for a new voucher to be released. This unnerved her a little so after another word with her manager I got the full 10% off.
Incidentally, when I've entered the voucher codes before on-line (just to test them out), I've found that the 10% was off the price of the machine note including delivery, i.e. take off £60 for delivery, multiply by 0.9, then add back on the £60 delivery charge. However, when I got my 10% by negotiating with the sales person, she calculated it as 10% off the full amount including delivery.
Another tip is to take out an American Express Platinum credit card which gives you 5% cashback on all purchases for 3 months, and for extra points, if you purchase on-line, then go via quido.com for a 5% referal cashback off the price ex. VAT. All in all, you could end up with somewhere between 15-20% discount.
